Sigma computer magnet question

Have read some of you have fitted the computer but nothing about replacing the magnet?  Other sites say the stock RE magnet is not strong enough for use on a motorcycle and replace it.

Has anyone just used the stock magnet with no problems?

The stock magnet is a little button-like thing about .1" in diameter and about .060" thick, right?

If so, it worked fine on my SV.   The previous owner had a sigma computer on it when he binned the stock gauge cluster.  (don't ask)
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

Cool thanks for that.   :thumb:

Did you take any pics by any chance?

Picked up the SIgma BC 506 today along with a stronger RE magnet (just in case).

Will post a pic once fitted.  Looks like a real easy install with only extra material needed is a little epoxy glue to hold the RE magnet to the rotor and a little epoxy on the pickup to glue to right hand fork.

Ok where has the wife put the camera?

Real easy install with the only tricky bit being where to place the magnet as to not hit the brake caliper.  Ended up using the stronger RE magnet as I had to have the stock magnet about 1mm away from the pickup to work where as the stonger RE magnet I was able to set it at between 3 to 5mm

Wheel circumference (1788mm) checked by placing tape on wheel and drawing mark on ground then rolling forward 5 revolutions while sitting on bike then mark end line.  Divide distance by 5 to get accurate reading.

As others have posted the speedo is (on mine at least) 10% out.

Soon as I can FIND the camera I will post up 2 pics 1 of the unit and one of the pickup and magnet.

Nice simple inexpensive mod that gives the GS a nice looking Digital Speedo.

Looks good!

The thing I find interesting is that many times, the stock speedo on the SV and the tach don't match within +- 2.5 MPH in sixth gear.   Hmmm......
