There is a flat spot in the acceleration of my 1992 GS500E. It idles perfect and runs strong up to 4K and over 5K RPMs. From 4K to 5K it vertually bogs with zero acceleration. It has 5025 original  miles and was recently serviced by the previous owner.  Is this an easy fix?

Too rich prolly cos its got a high float. Also check air filter/box ... you fix that ... then it will go lean, AKA - normal for it.

So the next step, If the float is set back to normal and it misbehaves under steady throttle - not when opening throttle like now, then jet it to 40/125 and 1 washer and 3 turns.

Cool.

NIce bike, seems to be alot of these on here?!

I am in your boat with my '92 - it has flat spots in the throttle.  I have no idea (yet) how to check it all.  I will be watching for what you find.

The mascot of the GS500.. The creature that's got the biggest ugliest a$$ of them all.

Mine was doing the same exact thing when we bought it. I assumed it was because of a shoddy rejetting after the previous owner installed the vance and hines exhaust. The only difference is mine had the problem between 5-6k rpm. I never did get around to fixing it, then the bike started acting goofy, then it got stored in a shed for 3-4 years. We finally pulled it out, and as soon as I finish cleaning up my basement, that's going to be my next project, and hopefully I get it taken care of in enough time to actually ride this summer. I'm just going to try to give it a complete overhaul-carbs, jets, timing, valves, battery, new oil, de-rust the tank, spark plugs, and all the other random things people say it could use, none of these I have any clue about though, so I'm just gonna wing it. I've never been good with engines, but I figure this will give me a good chance to learn.
