I am trying to narrow down why it is I have no spark yesterday as compared to 2 days ago.

Could a faulty rectifier/regulator be one of the many causes why I do not have a spark or is that totally out of the equation?

Faulty rectifier will give you other problems.  Like a dead battery.  I know for a fact that with a blown rectifier/regulator you can go about 80 miles.

You have no spark on one cylinder or two?

No spark on both sparkplugs. I had spark on both 2 days ago but nothing yesterday. I fear that I may have disconnected a wire somewhere or that something has malfunctioned. I will have to go over the bike with a multimeter wire by wire to figure out what is wrong. Not something I look forward to doing but it is a necessary step.
