hey new rider here i was just wanting to share an experiance i was riding around the other day was about 80 degrees and made a few stops and stopped over at a freinds' house. about ten mins or so later came back out to the garage where i parked and heard a slight whining noise from the tank just kinda figured it was normal. but i was showing my freind the bike and knowtised the gas was leaking from the air box and first thing i though was carbs or vapor lock but still didnt explain the noise. tryed to start bike ..... nothing drained all the gas from air box ..... it started and the tank was hot  didnt understand what was going on so hopped on and got home quickly. as it turned out parked it in my garage with the fan on it and opened the gas cap the heat was coming from the gas it was almost boiling (or so it seemed) but from what i can tell since the tank is vaccum driven the heated gas was pushing itself thru the lines and out the carbs. just kinda weird talked to a mechanic and he said that the feul now a days of course has e85 and that it warms up and retains heat quicker then regular gas kinda sucks that we cant just get regular gas any more thanks US Congress needed that change woo hoo :flipoff:

Yea some worthless technobabble from some mechanic ... retains heat quicker as its E85, so what gas retains heat slower ... is that like staying fatter quicker ... much like the infomercial morons selling the round thingy that you can rotate your clothes in and they get clean due to the pressure ... or the thing that makes you motor last 100000 times longer when you dump sand in the valve cover ... sorry, please make fine powdery sand and put a handful into the engine oil and check with a tear down and inspection of the bearings.

So ... your problem -

I dunno you leave it in the prime position ???
Else you ahve faulty petcock.
or you have float seat/float needle/ etc leaking.

Cool.
