Hey all this is my first post . I did my homework going tru the archives and couldn't find a good answer to my question  here it goes :

Just bought a 93 GS500 . runs well . but only if it's idle is 4000 rpm's
whenever I try to lower it to the 1200 range ( emissions testing requirement)  It starts
jerking , stalling and misfiring around on idle , not mentioning the bike barely runs now .
I exchanged the air/oil filter , oil , checked spark plugs , checked for sticky clutch or Throttle ,  still nothing  .  I got the clymer manual with the bike that looks really worn in the "Carburetor" chapter which leads me to believe that the previous owner tried to "fix/adjust/screw up" it on his own .

I'm looking for a full rebuild kit for both carburetors , called my
local Suzi stealer and they said it will be $65 for a single carb kit (just seals, piston valve, needle jet and float valve ) he also wanted
$35 for an oil filter...

So I need to rebuild both of them but don't want to pay $130 to do it . need help finding some after market kits or just reliable replacements , maybe a new carb ...
I checked goggle and ebaymotors with no luck . I'm thinking Bike bandit but I think there should be
a full kit available.

there is a set of kits on ebay at the moment for $32.00 (two), i bought some from this guy a few weeks back and now my bike purrs without jetting (i only have to have the choke on for 30 seconds!). i've seen a thread on here where you can get them for $12.00 a piece from somewhere on the internet (look in the 'for sale 'forum) but i don't know what the turn around time for shipping will be on those. the guy from ebay was superfast.
as far as an oil filter, no dealer should becharging you THAT much, i paid $21.00 for 4 quarts of suzuki brand oil and the suzuki filter from my dealer. that's just ridiculus, don't buy ANYTHING from THAT dealer. i suggest finding a new dealer in your area, and if you're from a small town, then buy everything off the internet. oh, try NAPA for the filter.
hope that helps

oh, and if you order the filter through www.bikebandit.com i highly suggest you order the mikuni (n151.067) 40 pilots for your carbs since you'll be in there anyway. they're only $13.60 for a set of 4 and i'm sure somebody on this forum would buy the extras from you if you were strapped for cash.

sounds like you may have the choke stuck open. Make sure thats not your problem as well.
