Ugh, I was the latter!

Yesterday was my b-day  :D and we were riding out to the beach. Well, we get almost there and a bee slams right into my neck at 70mph but the little B a s t a r d still managed to sting me good. I pulled over on the side of the road as soon as  I safely could. My best friend managed to get the stinger out. It burned for a while but the sea water from the ocean seemed to ease the pain.

Today I've got a half dollar sized lump on my neck! My throat is extemely itchy and painful. I'm also running a 100 degree temp. Is it heard of to have a delayed reaction to a sting?

That's a good question... Do you remember if you had a similar reaction the last time ya got stung???  Be careful out there! It would not be cool to start developing sensitivity to bee venom. The next time could be worse. Take care of yourself...  hope you run out of bad luck real soon!

tt_four

he was probably flying the opposite way, and you just drove straight into his stinger at 70mph.

You might want to get that checked out.  You could have an allergic reaction and your throat will swell and you may have trouble breathing or you could possibly go into anaphylactic shock.

Yep, what he said.
So so sorry to hear it.

I hit a bee a few years back and that sucker stung me 4 times before I could kill him  >:(

Can't be a bee if it stung ya more than once. Their stingers fall out and they die once they sting you so bees are reluctant to sting really. Wasps and yellow jackets on the other hand are aggressive enough to sting multiple times cause they're not afraid to die.

Toogoofy317

Ugh, what a lously day! I had to go in to work the Jordin Sparks concert. She was all right but I just felt icky! Then it started raining. When I got ready to leave work my legs were just killing me. This was only a five hour shift. When I get to the locker room I pull off my pants and my legs are covered in hives! They are also swelling. It wasn't hot so I really don't think it's heat rash. :dunno_white:

Once I get to my bike I realize I have no gloves! WTF I always put them in my helmet. I called the security office. Not there. I walk all the way back to wardrobe not there. I walk to the security office about a 1/4 mile away. Nada! Go to the little conveinance store built into wardrobe where I grabbed a quick soda. Not there either! So, now my $50 fox bomber gloves are MIA and I have no Florida weather gloves. The vibration killed my hands on the way home.

Now, I'm just a miserable itchy, sore throat, pain in the neck, mess!

I guess I can't have more than one good day in a row :dunno_white: :embarassed:

Hmm, might the hives be a result of the sting as well?  Who knows, Mary, I'm not a doctor, yet.

It's a good thing I'm not allergic to bees.  They're probably my favorite insect.  When I was little, little I would catch them in those little plastic containers you get out of gumball machines and just look at them.  I used to get stung probably a few times a day on average when I'd go out to the garden poking around at the little buggers (no pun intended).  Now I showcase my talent from time to time catching them barehanded.  :thumb:

Sorry to hear about your gloves. :(  I put mine in my "trunk space" aka that little bit of space right above the toolkit, so they're locked just like the helmet.   :thumb:  Hopefully you can get a good day in here soon to break the trend!

True, for the most part. Bumble Bees DON'T lose their stinger. The rest of the sorry Basstirds do and die.

I have an appointment with my doctor tomorrow. My neck is incredibly stiff with a nasty headache. A fever of 101 and my legs still have a nasty rash. My job today is to stay in bed.

Never figured a bee sting would last this long!

The doc gave me a script for a stonger anti-histimaine and an anti-biotic. No bike for the next few days until the vertigo clears up. He doesn't really know what is causing my worst symptom!
