Game 6 was fixed.  I am so disgusted.  Zetterburg scored, they waved it off, went to tv time out, and TO THIS DAY I have not seen a replay.  Games would have been 1-0 Detroit, and would have changed how Pit shifted lines.  Totally jobbed.  Then they called a half-ton of BS penalties on Detroit, ignored some crazy holding, tripping, and interference by Pit, Pit won game 6, got several days for their younger bodies to recover, the refs "let them play" in game 7, so the younger Pens won game 7.  The league wanted a game 7, they wanted a rivalry here, and they wanted Crosby to get a cup.  I couldn't watch more than a few minutes of game 7, I was so aggravated.  Ick.  Reminds me of that Buffalo/Dallas cup where Hull was all over the crease so bad they had to changed the goaltender interference rule....

Anybody can Buddha Loves You about calls and no-calls.  Happens both ways.  It doesn't determine the outcome of a 7 game series.  Pit played harder and better where it counted.  If Detroit played better on the boards then the outcome may have been different.

It came down to the fact that Detroit was only getting fluke goals or screens.  Once Fleury settled in, Pit was back in.

Go Pens!     :thumb:

The only part that makes hockey worth watching is the violence.

I can't remember any team winning two game 7's on the road to win a championship in any sport.  Amazing.

It comes down to calls and no calls when there's a pattern.  A waved off goal (i still have yet to see a replay), 4 consecutive bad penalty calls, and a host of non-calls on the other team seems to indicate the fix is in.  This may be why Bettman isn't with the NBA anymore, I don't know.  I think rivalry is good, and I think having young stars is good, and I think Pit is a decent team, but they lost that series in game 6 but for the refs and the league pushing a game 7 on Detroit.  Then, with several days rest, they legitimately outplayed Detroit in game 7 (although the first 6 minutes of that game the non calls seemed to favor them again, things settled down).  In the end, it's millionaires playing millionaires to see who gets to ask for more millions - doesn't change my life at all.  I would just prefer it was real, rather than tv show reality.

City of Champions, Steelers and Pens!

The commentators were talking about no calls going both ways.   And even bad calls going both ways.   It was being discussed through out the final rounds of the playoffs.  The refs were being more lenient and only calling the more obvious and serious penalties in order to the let the players play the game.  For the first two games of the Final they were talking nonstop about how Detroit constantly gets away with a lot of "subtle" interference.  lol.  And I watched every game from start to finish, there wasn't a single waved off goal that wasn't clearly a no-goal.  But we could talk about the time Zetterberg covered the puck with his glove as it was laying on Osgood's back...we can talk about that obvious no-call.

Number of penalties isssued:

G1: Pens 1, Detroit 3
G2: Pens 5, Detroit 2
G3: Pens 2, Detroit 3
G4: Pens 5, Detroit 4
G5: Pens 12 (6 by end of 2nd period), Detroit 3 (1 by end of 2nd period)
G6: Pens 2, Detroit 2
G7: Pens 3, Detroit 2

You can't watch a sport and get into it unless you trust that the Refs are human they can't see everything.  We must trust they are doing there job to the best of their ability in an unbias manner.  Otherwise you have to question the validity of everything...and if you are doing that...might as well not watch the sport.

It's so much easier to blame the Refs or Officials for something rather than admit a team just couldn't step up to the challenge.

Note that in G5 5, 6 pens penalties came after they were down a metric ton -  and in one period.  I played the game for a decade and a half - that's called frustration.

Note that after 12 penalties, 6 of which were frustration penalties, the same number of penalties were called on both teams in Game 6.  Bullshit.  Detroit's power plays in that game came after they were down.  You're telling me Pit got frustrated that it was winning?

The Wings did step up and meet the challenge.  They won the series in game 6, but were robbed by the refs and the league.  It is what it is.  It's not even the first time the refs and the league have done this.  Not even the second or third, in my lifetime.  Pit fans just can't tell me it was a great skill victory for their team.  That team should get a great skill victory some year, but they didn't this year.  They got handed one in the hopes of helping the sport.

hahaha   i'm not even going to continue to argue this.   all sports are run by the mafia.  its all fixed.    :icon_lol:
