i  am new here so everyone is welcome to call me ignorant. just got  an '02 gs with 7k miles, been down on left side (not hard),but down. the clutch does not engage, cable seems to move, but the rod doesn't move, it comes out, but does not push in,any suggestions before clutch removal ??? thanks, jimt423icon_confused:

I know this is an obvious answer, but are you sure the cable is adjusted tight enough that pulling in the lever actually is enough to engage the clutch? there's a barrel adjuster on the lever where it comes out, and there's also the adjuster where the cable meets the engine cover.

i'm sure the cable is doing it's job.i pulled the sproket cover and it seems that there is no movement in the pushrod (like it has bottomed out).is there something that would stop the movement?

Do you feel the normal amount of force against you when you pull the clutch or is it loose?

clutch lever has tension, i can put it in gear without using clutch lever.with the sprocket cover off it feels like the push rod has bottomed out. i get a very small nudge when it goes in gear, but thats all it does. anybody have an idea if something is broke inside or what? thanks

maybe you could snap a picture and show us what you are talking about.  I am no specialist but it sounds like something has come loose, with a picture we might get a better idea of what is going on.
