clip ons 4 my 09 F

What do you guys think is the best method of putting clipons on an F model?  I really hate hate hate my stock bars, I want my bars as low as possible without affecting handling.  I am thinking about removing my top plate to make room for clip ons and mouting gauges under my windscreen.  Does this sound like a good idea?
