Hey guys, I just wanted to share a few pictures of my new (to me) GS500F. As you can tell its an 04. It has just over 16,000 miles on it. I'm a new rider and the GS seemed like the perfect starter bike to me. I've been riding it for about a month now and Its amazing. My skills have improved so much in the last month but I know I have a long way to go still.

It has a few mods as well which were done by the previous owner..some of which I don't fully understand.  K&N filter, dynojet stage 2 kit (I think these are jets for the carb?), some kind of muffler modification to open it up a little, one tooth down on the front sprocket,  "drag bar" handlebars which are lower for more of a sportbike riding position, and of course the fenderectomy. Hope you enjoy the pics, I'm looking forward to learning more about this bike and riding in general!

I couldn't tell that it was an '04. :dunno_white: In truth, all the F models look the same to me.

Graphics changed in 07 I think.......Other than that  believe they are pretty much the same.  Thanks for the pics!  You just inspired me to go with drag bars instead of clipons!  they look almost as good, offer the same riding position, and are 25% of the price of clip ons!!! More beer money for me....

Haha cool! Glad I could help you with your decision. When I first started riding my hands would go numb quickly but I blame that more on just learning to ride than anything. I don't put as much weight on my wrists now and its fine. Moto GP just came back on....back to the TV!

My hands never go numb.  Went on a 100 mile ride yesterday and the only thing that bothered me was those stock bars being up way too high.  I have really long arms and it kills my elbows even if I'm sitting up.  I usually lay on the tank so the drag bars will make life MUCH better for me.  If you decide you don't like the flushmount signals up front Chaparral sells some sweeeet mini stalks that look great and are very cheap.  Idk.  It's very hard for cars to see those flushmounts in the rearview which could make for a dangerous situation.......Just my opinion.....

Hmm, I don't find laying on the tank to be that comfortable of a riding position, but it does help the bike greatly to tuck in at speed.
