Anyone here have an old CB750, 550, or the like?

I'm wondering if the front of the seat can fit a GS tank.

Yes, if you hit it with a big enough hammer. :technical:

Oh, you rascally kids!  So gosh-darned clever these days...

I have a 1970 CB750, but that's all I can help you with.  :dunno_white:

Can you take a picture of the front of the seat?

Two overall shots -one from front, one bottom.  Then, the same only close-up with a ruler?
I'm trying to find the width at the top and bottom (in the front) , and the height at the front.  I'm focused on the seat pan itself, not so much the foam.  But, whatever you can get, I'd appreciate.
CB seats look like they clear the little lip on the tank, but I'm not sure if it's wide enough or tall enough.
As it stands, I may have to resort to a plastic welder.  Suck-city.

Of course, if you wanna be really bad ass.... Instead of a ruler, just measure it and draw dimensions on the photograph.   :icon_lol:

If I remember I may be able to do this, but the picture quality won't be too good since it's from my cell.

Wish I was closer to Baltimore; this would be simple.

Basically, I know there's a flange on the CB tank where it mates to the sink.  I'm trying to find out whether that flange is the same height above the seat pan as on the GS.
And whether it's the same width.
The CB seat pan has a gap to accommodate that flange.   But, it's a lot of work if it doesn't quite fit.  And expensive.

This is the flange I'm talking about (the horizontal one, aka "ball buster").  Disregard the red circle, it's pointing out a pinch-point.

I'll take care of this tomorrow afternoon.  Hopefully I take the pictures of what you want.

How far are you from Baltimore?

I'm about 50 minutes north....if you needed something done, we might be able to work something out.

I'm in Ghetto-town ... Greensboro, NC.  About 5-6 hours away.

No need to drive that far, though, Brick.  Thanks, buddy.  I've got no way to repay you.

If anyone at all knows whether the GS tank can mate to a CB seat (notice the highlighted yellow flange in the picture below), I could make headway in having a GS/cafe racer conversion.

I'm sorry some work came up and I haven't had a chance to take pictures, but it doesn't look as if the seat would fit on the GS.  Tomorrow, I promise, I will take the pictures.

Well I have taken the pictures, but they're not showing up on my PC.  Once I figure out what's wrong I'll post them.

Here you go.  I hope the pictures help.  If not  :flipoff:......just kidding.  By the way, the seat does not go over the tank, but sit right behind.
