Which fuel hose diagram in the wiki is right?

Alright, so when I pulled my bike apart I made sure to see how the hoses were routed so I knew how to put it back together, plus I knew there were diagrams online. Well after 2-3 weeks some of it managed to slip my mind, and I'm in the spot where you built a whole new piece of furniture from Ikea, and have 2 leftover bolts you know should've gone in somewhere. The two pieces I'm left with is a hose that's 25 inches long and has a 90 degree bend at the very end of it. Sounds simple enough, should be the tank drain hose, right? The only reason I'm unsure is because I don't remember that 90 degree bend being there when I pulled it apart, and I took the hose off the tank days after I took the rest of the hoses off, so it's possible I set that hose somewhere completely different, which is the only reason I'm unsure about that one. Do your tank overflow hoses have that 90 degree bend in the end? The overflow on the tank is right over the carb so I'm gonna assume that what it is.

The second hose, is 8 inches long, but I feel the previous owner cut that because the end of it is not cut straight, so the length may not help you. The obvious place is the vent hose for the upper T connection. The diagram shows that hose going all the way back to the battery box, and this one clearly isn't long enough to do that. Does this hose only vent air? if it does I would assume it doesn't really matter how long it is, and he just cut it when he took out the air box. Does this hose need to go somewhere, or as long as there's a hose, it's ok?

I've already got all the hoses between the shut off on the frame and the petcock on the tank, as well as the vacuum and the gas line from the tank shut off to the bottom T-connection, so those are pretty much the only two left, so hopefully someone can confirm those for me. I'd hate to start pumping gas where air is supposed to be.

Last question.... I know people always talk about a fuel hose diagram being wrong, and the wiki having a right one. Only problem is that I found two diagrams on the wiki, and they're both different, so I have no idea how to know which one it is. I went with the one that's opposite of what's in my manual. Can you guys let me know which is right, because the wiki didn't actually say which one it was. This is how I have mine set up..... http://wiki.gstwins.com/index.php?n=Main.HoseRouting and 1st one on the left in ....... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v443/jcp8832/GS500fuelcocks.jpg and then this is the one I'm assuming is wrong..... http://wiki.gstwins.com/index.php?n=Main.FuelCockAndHoses

Oh, and it's a 91.

Alright, well thanks for the help. All I need to do is get these hoses checked out, pick up some air filter cleaner, my oil filter(won't be in until monday  ) and get a new battery today, and I'll get to see if my bike runs!

I was wrong, one more question. Now that the carbs and hoses are all empty, what do I need to do when I start the bike the first time? Should I put it on PRI, and then switch to FUEL, or should I just put it on FUEL and try to start it that way?

Thanks!

The T on top of the carbs is just an air hose, so your 8 in one should work just fine.  I don't know what the tank drain is supposed to look like as the PO had hooked the carb vent hose to the tank drain (that was fun figuring out that problem...).

As for starting it just set it on prime for a few min and then fire it up or set it on fuel.  If your floats are ok you can run it on prime without trouble.  The only problem with prime nears as I can tell is if you leave the bike sitting for a while.

Hey, thanks a ton.

As it turns out BatteriesPlus didn't have a GS battery in stock, so I'll probably have to order one online and just wait till next weekend to see if I can get the bike running.  :technical: I figured a GS was a pretty common bike and wouldn't be that hard to find a battery for, considering they've been making them for 20 years, but oh well. It'll give me time to clean up some other parts on the bike that I would've left for later, since I hear temporary fixes tend to turn in to permanent ones if you don't just do it right the first time.

Was I right in assuming that those first 2 hose diagrams were the correct setups, and the last one is the wrong one? They're just the normal and reserve lines, so I'd figure it out soon enough if I had them backwards.
