front FENDER BOLT SIZES???????

I seem to have vibrated-out and lost all 4 fender-plate mounting bolts.... any clue the size or what I could use to replace them?  The 4 larger outer (including speedo cable-stay) ones that bolt the fender plate to the fork legs, not the smaller inner ones that mount the fender to the plate.

And how stupidly dangerous is it to ride without them for now?  Fender seems to flop around a little bit, but no clearance issues.....???

Zip tie it on in the mean time, it's not going anywhere. When I was painting Heather's bike I was too lazy to pull the front wheel and completely disassemble the front end. I unbolted the whole thing, but didn't even come close to being able to get it out. The holes have to either be 4, 5, or 6mm bolts I would guess, just go to the hardware store and buy 4 of each size, probably 15-20mm long, it'll only cost you about $6, and you'll have the extras to spare.

Some day when I'm feeling spendy, I need to go down to the hardware store and buy a couple of every single sized bolt they have, for these types of situations.

I believe they are 5mm and about 12mm length? I can check for sure later this evening. I went to the local ACE and found a stainless steel replacement. You can probably get all 4 less than $7.

if it's stock and you have a make similar to mine I'll mail you mine.  I got a thicker brace and so new longer bolts were included so I don't need mine.  I also went fenderless so I have those as well.

update - just got some hex-head 6mm x 10mm bolts - fit perfect - longer (12mm) would work as well

Yes 12mm works, and with the 1/2 inch brace I sell, I put in 1 inch bolts ... works perfect ... That is what medevac was talking about ...

BTW I am down to 1 last brace with a few more likely getting picked up tommorow afternoon.

I'll post pics and its own thread.
Cool.

M6x1 is the thread size, 5mm may be the socket head size, 16mm long works for a thin fork brace (Mine is seriously not factory, in the "cheeze-wiz" direction). 15mm longer than your fork brace (or the part below the counterbores, if it's counterbored) will get you full engagement in the forks (a good thing). Always use anti-seize - it's steel into aluminum.

Apropos nothing, 6x1x60 is the handlebar weight screw size, at least on old ones with welded in threaded inserts.
