Okay so...before I leave this forum I'd just like to thank a lot of you for your help and support. This forum is great and the wiki is great. My bike was totalled and I'm getting $4,300 from the insurance including my $500 deductable.

Just a quick question for you all. They want to sell it back to me for $1200. I told them I don't want to ride it anymore but might fix it up and sell it. What you think? They said the swingarm might be bent..But I don't know!

Here is the beloved gear:

I'd take the money and get a another bike. You're not gonna make money fixing it up since your bike will have the stigma of the salvage title and resale valure will be cut drastically. The only reason to buy it back is to fix it up for riding yourself and pocketing the difference. And Dang! Totalled at only 6700 miles and I believe down 3 times previously and wanting to upgrade to a bigger bike. Good luck.

I guess, it's winter in a few months and I don't have a garage so yeah...I'm letting go of her.

Man, I'd take the cash.  You can get a nice bike for that kinda money.  Best of luck with whatever you decide to do, I'm sorry to hear about the accident.

Kiddo, swingarm send me 20 bucks and shipping, however it has been painted by hand with POR15 and hardnose with brush ... Looks like a hammer finish paint job really.

That bike aint nothing but 20 mins away from rolling down the road with the best of them.
Garage - screw that, rent a storage space, get it over there and fix it in 1 weekend.

Cool.

with all the scratches and cracks it looks like you got sucked into a tornado. good work on staying alive while that happened.

I say take the money and get a bike with anti-dive. anti-dive is addictive.

Thanks...I don't know how I made it out with abrasion to my knee, a cut and some road rash. no broken bones!!

Kinda like when I got hit on my bicycle.  Probably going like 30 down a hill on the shoulder when some douchebag in a black Cadillac came flying past, catching my handlebar on the side of his car, twisting the handlebars, stuffing the other handle into my stomach flipping me over the front of my bike onto the pavement.  It was like, mid-december and I was wearing a hoodie and athletic shorts, no helmet, no gloves.  I just got scraped up a bit and some clothing rips.  The fcuker didn't even touch his breaks and just kept going.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear that you're alright, man.  I'm still saying take the money and find a nice bike.  If you're feeling confident, maybe invest some of the money to hopefully get some return and just buy before the next riding season.

Yeah, $1200 is a cool deal if you bought a new swingarm and right engine cover, and just ride it around naked, but if you were going to resell it, you're definitely not going to make any more money than you put into it, and would still have to deal with the hassle of selling it. Just don't get suckered into the same game I did buying a bike that cost more, and thinking you'd send in the rest of the money with the next payment, it won't happen. Buy a new helmet and jacket first, figure out how much insurance is gonna cost you, and then buy a bike with what you have left so you're done with it.

My dad said no buying it back. He said no need to..Riding season is over and you're getting a Ducati next summer. So no need for her. I'm actually sad that she's going to be going to an auction and probably sold for parts. UGH.

I see MD plates there.  Riding season isn't over!!!!   But yeah it doesn't sound like it would be worth the hassle at $1200.  You could probable get an older gs with a clean title that wasn't busted up for that much.

That's a damn shame. I hate seeing a crashed Duc. I know they aren't super rare, but they are definitely special. It's a shame you won't give it the respect it deserves.
