I am in the minority, think this bike is cramped.  My legs are too long I suppose.  I won't ride a GSXR or CBR or R etc, too uncomfortable.

I saw a few who repadded their own seats. What material to use? Where to buy? Links?

I plan on lowering pegs too next winter.  Will start with extra set, then grind/weld and post.

My ex250 is even smaller but then thats OK its only a 250.

I had the same problem.  I used one of those camping mats for under the sleeping bag.  It's just high density foam and costs a whopping $10 for a 7 foot roll.  I know it sounds rediculous but it worked great.

I basically cut the stock seat foam down to the seat pan and then layered sheets of 3/8 inch camping mat over it.   I glued each layer together with spray adhesive.  Cut it with a bread knife to be shaped how I wanted it and stapled the cover back on.  It still going strong.

I bought a custom motorcycle mag that had an article about custom seats (for harleys) and the guy used scraps of carpet padding which were glued together and shaped the same way. Looked super comfy on the arse!

your other option is to look for some kinda of gel/seat pad that would just strap on over the seat. It won't look as nice as repadding the seat under the cover, but it's a pretty simple way to lift you up another inch

Car upholstery suppliers.

I shopped around a bunch and eventually got "All-Sport" (brand) 4-way stretch vinyl and "extra firm" (hah - I'd hate to meet the "soft" stuff) foam - the gel products are too rich for my budget, other than perhaps going the "dissasemble a wal-mart gel bicycle seat cover" route - which I haven't bothered with.

I bought from Rochford Supply after scoping out several sources and their odd shipping policies - which Rochford also has a bit of, but theirs worked out the best for my specific order (in combination with their prices). I ended up getting 3 sheets of half-inch foam as being cheaper (bought and shipped) than a thicker sheet, and used several (4?) layers on the driver side, with one layer extending over the passenger part. But I was also buying for more than just one seat. A single yard of material (54x36"), cut carefully, will give 3 GS500 seats (2 if you are less careful/brave).

Before I dared to dive in myself, I had one seat redone at an upholstery shop. Quite a nice job, not too expensive.

I still haven't got pictures of the new seat up, I guess. Whatever.

pretty much all the padding matierials suggested are diffent ways of presenting mans best foamy friend: polyurethane foam. its ubiqutous, cheap, and easy to work with, though making it involves isocynates, which are NOT tasty. polyurethane foam from any source will work happily, hoever it does not like UV light (a component of sunlight) so cover it up.

grab yourself some "memory foam" if you want to leave a fancy butt-groove everytime you leave the seat.
