I'm new to this game and have an issue.

Lately everytime i start the bike the oil pressure light comes on, now funny thing is when i shift into first the light goes off. It doesn't come on again until i'm back home and hit the kill switch. Now there is a small dribble leak up mid-cylinder which i assume is the gasket which i assume will have a small effect on internal pressure. Would that be it or do u guys think its the pressure switch?? :dunno_white:

Thanks for the help

if you just let it idle after you start it does it go off after a bit? or only once you put it in first?

When did you last change oil and filter? What did you put in? Might be worth changing the oil & filter to remove any crud and get known-good oil in there if there's any doubt about that.

Light should be on before you start and after you stop the engine (when the electrics are on but there's no pressure since it's not running). Of course, you can simply turn the key off to kill the engine (and the rest of the electrics at the same time) at the end of the ride...

If it's on between starting the engine and getting it in first, something is not right. Said something will (IME, IMHO) get much more expensive to fix if you ignore it.

Thanks fellas i'm about due for a oil/filter change anyway so i'll see what that does. Maybe i just start the bike and take off too fast so it looks as if it's on until first..haha :thumb:
