front end help

ok.....from this thread (http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=49431.msg559426#msg559426 you might recall the front end issue i had.
well...i got the part in and installed it, but it didn't resolve my issue. i then noticed that when i compress the front end the right side moved down and the left moved forward  and a little oil came out (something not right here). so i decided to take the fork apart to see if i could find anything wrong. everything looks ok. the seal is rock hard. is that normal?
any help is greatly appreciated.

no, the seal should be soft, if its hard, its unlikely its gonna keep water out of your oil, or oil off the ground.
