Just a quick note to let you folks know that my stepson (USMC) is home safe from his deployment in Afghanistan for the last seven months.  He arrived about two hours ago in California, and has been reunited with his wife and son.  His mom and I are VERY relieved for now --- he'll return eventually.

He did two tours in Iraq (including the initial invasion and Fallujah) and now has done one tour in Afghanistan.

Tell him welcome back and thanks for his service and sacrifice.

My brother is a former marine, he was in the first war over there. It's always good to know

when your loved ones are safe.

Yes sir, that should be so heart warming for you.
Somehow gstwinners seem like a lot younger than having kids that go to wars ... but of course GSJack shatters that stereo type good.
Cool.

( thank god ive only met a few of them)

Thanks birdman

I'm ready for them all to be home.  There's nothing more that we can do (IMHO) that we have not done in EIGHT YEARS of being there.  It's time to let them F*ck Up their own country again.  If they harbor terrorists again, we bomb them back to the Stone Age.  Every time.  It's not worth losing any more troops over.  I'm very disappointed that Obama believes Afghanistan is somehow different than Iraq or even Viet Nam.  Have we learned NOTHING?

My opinion.

Well its obamas war now. lets see  what hell do wiht it. i HOPE he doesnt let happen what another pres did.   that being said, i dislike war, which kinda blows the non liberal thoughts of em. im not nor have i ever been a warmonger/liker. war sucks ass. would be nice if we OR anybody, EVER err NEVER had to fire a shot in ager EVER again. would be so EFFIN sweet. somehow tho i see that not happening in my lifetime. PPL have been fighting since hteir creation. which sucks.

I am sure you and the rest of his family will treat him right and i hope he enjoys himself.

Experiences like he has had can give you a sense of your own mortality and the value of life, don't waste a moment of it.

TG, we may disagree on a LOT, but I'm right there with you on this one.  Sadly, I think this one is going to go the distance and last longer than Vietnam.
Glad your stepson made it back in one piece physically.

war does suck. but, i can see how sometimes, you just gotta do what you gotta do. that being said, i personally think war gets even worse when you add politics to the mix. if we fought simply to win and come home, it would have been over long ago. don't kitty cat-foot around. kick the f%$k out of them, make them second guess ANY future plans to try to same crap that got us to fight to begin with, and come the f%$k home.

as a teenager, my dad always told me he never wanted me to fight. but, he said, that if i had to, make it short and sweet. don't play around. take care of business and be done with it. why can't we do the same in this situation?
