I took mine off last night to change a gasket, found they were both broken.    I didn't even know!

And, it turns out they don't have any more. I guess I'll be updating the wiki. So.... is anyone making something similar or not? It appears the SW Motec ones still exist, but $150 + shipping....  :o

Buddha is hard at work ... OK not quite, but buddha does have a bike and a welding dude who is eager ... OK fine more like can be reluctantly coerced to making stuff ...
Seriously my goal is to get the GS working and then take it up there and get em made.

I got the last one :)

When I ordered it, they didn't think they had any left, went looking for about 5 minutes and found the last one hidden away.

how were they broken? did you drop your bike before?

I did lowside it on the right side a year ago. On that one the lower mounting tab that sandwiches between the bike frame and the washer was broken in half. Ok, fine, that one took a hit. But the left one was also broken, the weld between the tube and the mounting tab just came clean apart.   Just from vibration? Pretty crappy weld. I took them to a local welding shop and they think they can fix them, so we'll see...

So yeah Buddha, get to it man!

My MC enterprise guard broke too on one side.  I loosened a motor mount and notice the tab was busted at the weld.  Sent it back for a replacement.
K&N Lunchbox, K&N Engine Breather, Hella Angel Eyes, Buell Turn signals, Kat 750 Rear Shock, Progressive Springs, MC Case Guards, Aluminum Ignition Cover, V&H Full Exhaust, Ignition Advancer, 15T Sprocket, Srinath Bars, Gel Seat, Dual FIAMM Freeway Blaster horns

The Buddha

Yes I am on it, but its really pityfully crappy. Dont even ask how today went or whatever if you value your life ...

BTW did these break on impact or without impact. I made ~25 few years ago, 2 of them crashed and one broke ... but really crashing and breaking 1/8th wall pipe and 3/8th thick end cap is seriously a reason to thank the guard ... cos else it may have eat up 1/2 the motor.
Cool.

Mine were a few months old and looked new.  No crash was involved.

Buddha, are the ones you're making a 3 point design? Any idea on price? Cause I picked up my repaired ones today and these guys did a pretty nice job. So I asked if they were interested in copying it, making a few more sets that I could sell here, but if you're going to make a nice 3 point for a good price, I won't bother.

The Buddha

The PITA is getting it fitting under a stock fairing. I have got stuck in the process in mine.
You could do these dude, I am sorta DOA ... my welder is mad at me too.
Cool.

I'm interested, if you make them. :thumb:

IF you decide to make them, are will they fit under the fairings OR they will be MC Enterprise copy, just for naked bikes?

I'd be interested as well, if you do make some.  It's for a naked 01, so I don't care if they don't fit the new Fs ;)

Pretty much a copy, I don't want to have to do any "work"!  :cookoo: :icon_lol: Well, ok the tabs might be a little thicker to prevent what happened to mine, and the bars will likely be a smaller diameter and solid.

I'll take mine by the shop tomorrow and see if they were serious about making a few. They aren't going to be quite as cheap as the MC ones for such a small batch, that's for sure.

ecpreston

got a little lazy. But they're in the works now, I just looked at the first set today and I think they'll be a nice replacement. The mounting tabs are twice as thick so they won't likely break like mine did. I'll get some pics up maybe next week.
