Local story this morning.  Young biker hit by a car and dragged underneath for 100 feet by a drunk driver who was 3 times over the limit at 8:00 AM, while taking his kid to school.  He then walked away from the accident, but was found by cops.

The "breaking news" coverage on tv this morning showed the paramedics pretty much standing near the car with a gurney, just waiting to scrape up the carcass after the car got lifted off.   I suppose there wasn't much left to even try to revive the guy.

No definitive word on who was at fault, and there is probably some fault on both sides, but it is just a tragic story.

Always be vigilant, especially watching out for stupid moves by the other guy.
On those days when life is a little too much and nothing seems to be going right, I pause for a moment to ponder the wise last words of my grandfather:  "I wonder where the mother bear is?"

Cliff Notes:

1)  Man runs over motorcyclist while taking his stepdaughter to school.  17 year old witness stated that the motorcycle was attempting to get in front of the car to make a turn.

2)  Witness sees the two exit the vehicle and momentarily hang around.

3)  Witness is then told by the car driver that he's going to take his kid to school and will be right back.  Guy under car is dead at this point.

4)  Driver is found 7 blocks away by police.  Two breathalyzer tests indicate nearly three times the legal limit of alcohol.
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

I was riding to work today when I saw a guy nearly get hit by a car who ran a redlight.  Guys, if you're at a light, let the car next to you go a bit ahead of you. Use the car as a sheild if possible. If someone runs a light, I'd rather them hit someone in a car than me on a bike. Pulling out first just isn't worth it.

you  know, i read through the comments posted on the story page. some people are so clueless. i doubt half of the commentors even read the whole article. the person in the car had a blood alcohol level more than 3 TIMES THE LEGAL LIMIT!!! AT 7AM??? and there's question about fault? i've always been of the impression that even if it's "the other guys fault", if you're driving/riding illegally(drunk for example) it automatically becomes your fault. 3 times? seriously? 3 times the limit? at 7 am? and driving? you know...i just...wow.....

That's like cell phones, I heard somewhere that if you get in an accident while you're on your phone, it's automatically considered your fault, not completely sure if that's true or not.

I wish it was here in Florida. A woman hit another person from behind my friend witnessed it she never got off of the phone the whole time! Finallly, the FHP grabbed the phone and threw it in the bush. Don't mess with FHP LOL!
