Chrome oil bolt on the side of engine? (PICTURE in third Post)

Hey guys. I did an oil change on my bike for the first time (My First time), and I removed the chrome bolt on the same side of the oil dip stick. Only a small amount of oil came out, so I assumed that was the wrong one. I came inside and checked the wiki oil change and removed the right one.

Now my bike is kind of hard to shift. I haven't ridden it yet, I just tried shifting while it was idling. Was the oil for the shifter? Should I add oil there, or will it automatically get in there from the engine oil?

Thanks

pic of what bolt your removed might be more helpful.

Here it is. Same side as the oil dip stick.

I just removed some of the oil from that chrome bolt. I overfilled it a little. It was at the outside tip of the "F". Now it's right before the "F" and now it shifts too smooth. Haha.

I'm gonna take it for a drive.

That is oil galley plug. Remove it when the engine is runnign and you get a shower of oil @ pressure.

Haha. I thought about that but decides not to. I just removed it and tipped the bike a bit.

It's shifting better than before I replaced the oil, now. Who knew that a bit of oil overfill would make it hard to shift.

Thanks guys.

Aww, haha, that reminds me of my first bike, an 83 xt550. It was old enough that my dad put me in the habit of checking the oil before every ride. One day I was on the other side of the neighborhood and relized I forgot to check the oil level. I had only had the bike for a couple weeks at this point. The oil was stored in the frame so the plug was conveniently located on top of the frame right behind the top triple and infront of the gas tank. I stopped at a stop sign and unscrewed the plug to check the oil.

Umm, wait, you didn't remove the drain plug to change the oil?

Uhh, I'm pretty sure you DON'T need to remove the galley plug to change it. Remove drain plug to drain the oil, it's on the bottom of the bike, between the exhaust pipes.
