Slip on works almost as well and dont hinder the oil filter access.
Filters - usually make the motor wear faster.
The pipe or filter change will need a rejet.
Heck stock bike needs rejet.
Lemme know, I have some stuff, good new exhaust - slip on as well as jets. No filter though.
Cool.

I strongly recomend a full system if you want power, plus they are close in price to most slip ons. I have a Vance&Hines SuperSport full exhaust and while it sounds awesome and was cheap ($289) it HAS to be removed to change the oil filter. The Jardine system, on the other hand, is slightly more expensive ($350) but doesn't reqire the headers to be removed for a filter change. both sound very similar the jardine is slightly quieter but still a good bit louder than stock.

I highly recomend the Jardine full system.

I have the Jardine full system with a K&N lunchbox filter and am very happy with the sound over stock and their is a slight performance gain but don't expect the bike to start acting like a true sport bike cause it is still only a 500.  Also make sure to rejet if you change the pipe and filter.  Buddha has the jet packs for whatever set-up you end up going with.

If you are looking to add HP you might want to look into changing the sprockets, they won't change the HP of the bike but they will improve your acceleration and probably have more of an effect in doing so then by changing the pipe and filter.
