Clutch adjuster movement

Hello, I'm a new GS500 owner and new to this forum. While adjusting my clutch lever to change the location of the friction zone, I adjusted the locking nut at the lever and the clutch adjuster nut at the engine (the second picture here: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=20468.0). The new adjustments seem fine, though the cable at the clutch adjuster end has a little free play; I can move the cable up and down a bit despite the lock nut being tight. Is this normal? If not, how should I tighten it to stay in place? My service manual only says that it can be loosened, it doesn't say anything about how much it should be tightened. Thanks for your help.

My Clymer manual states that the clutch lever should have 4mm of play.If the clutch lever has too much play, the cable is slack and the cable housing will be loose where it makes contact with the adjusters.
PICS are GONE never TO return.
