Hello everyone--as some of you might have read, I have recently had a low side crash resulting in a steering stop problem

Here are some better pictures of the frame mounted steering stop tab that got shifted.

From how it looks would I be ok breaking it off and rewelding it back into place?

Of course, I'll need to check my forks as well--but this seems to be the most obvious problem to me upon inspecting my bike

I appreciate the help!

as a welder and from that picture it doesnt look like a broken weld to me it looks as tho you ripped the already weak metal (due to rusting) of the lower collar of your neck.

It is definitely limiting bar movement toward the right side though--would I be ok to simply cut if off and forget about it?  I'm concerned about when I need to push it around the garage, having less range of movement can really be a hassle

Thanks for the replies!

I think if you just cut it off you'd soon get dings in the tank from the bars hitting it when you're pushing it around, unless you're very careful.
If you weld it, there's possibly a danger of distorting the lower bearing housing from the heat.
You could strip the front end and grind back the side that's restricting movement, and maybe also add a bit of weld on the other end if you want to protect the tank. Welding out on the end of the stop would be OK I think.
Mine has the same problem but not nearly as bad.
Good luck.

Position it back and weld it.
If you remove it, zip tie a chunk of car tire to the back side of the lower triple and it will hit the frame and not let the thing ding the tank or smash your thumbs.
Cool.
