Buddha,
A few months ago, I asked about the clunking sound when I start my bike and you said it was the starter clutch.
Could you tell me more specifically about how to fix this. You mentioned sliding hammer. After I use the sliding hammer to get the starter clutch out, what happens?
Do I replace the starter clutch or fix something on it and put it back on?
Thanks,

The Buddha

Yea replace it, and the more clunking you let it do, the more likely you will shred the stator and rotor and you'd be replaceing all of those. Its 3 pins, 3 springs and 3 rollers. 25 bucks from ron ayers new. Rotor and stator will be atleast a 100 if not more for used. Seriously I was ignorant and let it get that far. Thanksfully due to my screaming up and down possibly on this incessantly, no one else has on here.

Find who got the sliding hammer and borrow it. I may have to get it after you finish with it. So you're better off getting it now.

Cool.

You dont quite need #3 or whatever you've found.
You need 3 pieces of of 4 - 09261-15001, 5 -  09440-04015, and 6 - 12633-31000 ...
However if your center hub teeth are eaten up - miles, as in the number of starts - my 89 went 48K cos every time I started it between the 10K and 40K mark, I ran it 50 miles is what it wears based on, then you need that part.

I dunno if that getting eaten can cause the clutch to go bad, or if the clutch goes bad first and it gets eaten as a result.
Mine had discernible teeth marks. I tossed it for a new used one. But my whole alternator case looked like an enchilada ... extra beans.
Cool.
