hmm im considering getting a scooter to break my parents in to the idea of me on two wheels....until now id park the gs near my girlfriends house and leave all my gear there...when i want to take the bike home i call my brother and meet him outside the house so i can stash my gear in his trunk....my mom said i can get a bike if i dont wanna be her son anymore...too bad she said this AFTER i bought the gs!  now im addicted and i cant cant cant give it up! i figured id get a scooter (mostly to take me to and from my house and my girlfriends house....where my gs is! HA!) and i was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with any of them?  the honda ruckus is kinda cool but i want the underseat space which the metropolitan has, but its too girly...i want a cheap one too....but not TOO slow! i wanna go about 10 mph over local speed limits!  any help is appreciated thanks guys
Don't mind me I'm just new.

Whast up dude?
I had a similar problem. My pops bought me my GS after my mom strictly told us I could not have a motorcycle.
But anyway, buy the ruckus. I rode one, and it is so great... for a scooter. its tons of fun actually, you can abuse the hell out of it too. As far as under seat space, you can figure something out. Just get the Ruckus, trust me, youll eb better off!!

I talked to a cat on a Ruckus on the street, last week. He said it topped out at like 37mph. It looked better than some ghey Vespa ripoff.

buy an old Puch, with the pedals....should be a nice transition from bike to [motor]bike...and they're classic.

Agreed.  You're buying it to get them comfortable with 2 wheels, not to have fun on the scooter :) .   If they ask why you don't just ride a bicycle, tell them you sprained your knee (or in my case, tore a meniscus).  Vespas are overpriced; just get an old $500 scoot.  You can point-out that you're saving money on the gas.  The Ruckus might be so much fun that you ride the GS less :o .

Oh, and move out and pay your own rent when you can afford to... possibly the best change I ever made.

im sorry....NO PEDALS haha....i might get one of those cheap chinese-made ones off of ebay....theyre almost identical to honda/yamahas but the cost like $600......should i stick with a cheap little 50cc or go for 125cc?
Don't mind me I'm just new.

They are all great fun, I'd get the one with the most storage, some have got pockets everywhere, you might wanna take kit to the GS. As for 50cc vs 125 I'd say 125 but then all the 50's over here are regulated to 32mph as they are legal for 16 year-olds whereas at 17 you can ride a "big" 125. There are loads of Chinese and other oriental clones about all much of a muchness.  Great fun, all scooters, about 200 years ago my old man, gawd rest 'im bought me my first bike 197cc Lambretta, they're all crap on slippery surfaces (smaal wheels & centre of gravity) but great around town.

if you get a bajaj.. let me just say.. its not an automatic..
its a 150cc 4 stroke with 9hp. Its got plenty of power for its weight and actually quite well built. And yes you can wheelie it.. i have once on accident. Its actually quite manuverable if handled right.

One big thing you got to get used to is that its got a hand shift.. left hand is your clutch and gear (twist gear) and right side is front brake, foot rear brake.

Once you get used to that, its quite easy. U should be able to get a 2002 model or 2003 model for cheap.

dont laugh, i have seen a nitro burning drag moped, the scarey part it topped out at 74mph, yes it had pedles, i think it was a tomas

Its you Vs the pavement.....who wins today?

Buy a Vespa ET2 - the is nothing that comes close to the quality of a VESPA - and the style is amazing.... but it has a high price tag!

Vespas are cool but I'd rather have an Aprilia SR50 if I'm going to spend that much money, in my opinion.

Also, this might help convince the partents:

not sure yet about the scooter tho....maybe in the spring? who knows...

I am lusting for a Zuma.  I live a few blocks away from a Harley dealer and ride past it every day.  The YZF only gets occasional dirty looks. I figure a scooter will get shots fired at it.  :nana:
