bike is back on the road, and staying away from taxi fuckers! Kinda worried on first few days after being off the bike for over a year

did the jet kit, lunchbox, and vance&hines and runs horrible!!!!!!!!

the guy who did the carbs said i may need to go down a little on the jet size, i just wonder what it would be like to
have a good running bike to ride...seems like all i hear is how the GS has a hanging idle problem and how tuning the carbs is a beast

after i get it running better full repaint is next, going to be a metallic/chery red

new grips

new bar ends

bikemaster bars, bolt on somewhat okay

notice how they start to bend up before they finish comming out of the clamps

guy who put them on for me said i should worry about that but only a little

from bikebandit $12 each

will put on after I repaint the...whatever this thing they stick to is called

clearcoat is trash after sitting for 6 months at the shop

fender needs some work

Better be careful, Honcho's don't like to be talked about!  God I miss Okinawa!  I lived on Camp Foster for 3 months while I volunteered for a program called "Camp Adventure" where we put on summer camps for the children of soldiers stationed overseas.  Gate 2 street was my favorite place to be!

Thanks!

The only problem now is it still needs to have the jet it adjusted. I also have not got it to start in a month, think it may have bent a valve. Its a money pit and I am almost sure it will stay in its homeland of Japan when I come back to the USA next June.

well I finally got in all the parts for the bike, guy who did the frame work misplaced my stuff >:(

Bike will not start cause it is not getting fuel. Took the tank off to find out what is going on. The main chicken in the tank is working and fuel comes out of the tank but don't get past the pet chicken. So before I spend another $100 or so on a new pet chicken. I was wondering if the pet chicken needs a vacuum to open. Looked all in the repair manual and it says nothing about it. Put a pic up of what I am talking about.

Yes, petcock needs vacuum to operate, unless it is set on "prime". Suggest you pull the fuel line off the carb, set the petcock on prime and see if fuel flows.

glad to see you've almost got it ride-able again

I was deployed to kadena air base for 3 months. I know gate 2 street all to well.

Little update on me. Came back to the states in july 2011. Barley put 15 miles on the GS after the crash. It ran like dog butt. Haven't put gas or a battery back in it after shipping it back stateside. Think a valve may be bent also. I have been spending all my time and money into rebuilding my Nissan 240sx. Will have to get a different jet kit and a new pet chicken before I try to get it on the road again.

I have kind of lost interested in riding though. So I may not even waste my time and money trying to get it running. May just end up parting it out. I was always frustrated by the hanging idle problem of the GS. If I ever get a bike after this it will be fuel injected.
