I've done some new stuff on the bike that I haven't posted up yet. At the same time I did the tail mod, I got some aftermarket adjustable rearsets for a hayabusa ( from here: http://motors.shop.ebay.com/dan_dans_treasure_chest/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=). Fitting was fairly easy and I only had to redrill the mounting holes to line up with the GS. There is plenty of material on the plate, and drilling it out didn't effect strength. To mount the shifter, all that was needed was to cut the stock peg about 40-55mm long, drill and tap a hole to mount the busa linkage and adjust for pedal height.

Here's some pics of them on the bike:

Here's the number plate and indicator bracket we built out of aluminium flat and 'c' channel, pop rivited to the new subframe. Don't worry, the subframe is straight, it just looks crooked in the photo.

Another of the subframe

Here's a few of the painting process. White with a black stripe.

And the bike painted

I dig the stripes man. Similar to the stock SV paint job right? Not sure I would have rattle-canned it though . . . .

Try dropping down to 4 Oreos and set your pilot screw 3 turns out.

Not as far as I know. I've seen a gladius with a similar setup (it was blue on white), but never an SV with the stripe.

Yeah, I figured I'd have a go with rattle can, and if it turned out ok, I'd leave it. I think I might wet sand and through some 2-pakl acrylic over the top when I can line up my mate with a compressor and spray gun. It's only going to cost about $150aud for the paint to do it properly.

Im liking the direction your going, BUT it kinda looks like you got rearended, like the tire is pushed way too far forward, I think you need a bandit 1200 swap. I have some parts left over if you change your mind. it will push it back a couple of inches, and give you a wider rear. Help equalize everything, but none the less lookin pretty good, and who cares if its a rattle can job or not they cant see that at 70 mph anyways...  Oh and I also think it would look good if you cleaned up the frame where the black meets the silver and had a hard line where it transitions.
Current project:
Mmotos full body kit (YOU DONT WANT TO DO BUSINESS WITH THEM... READ MY THREAD BOOT STATE UPDATE)
K&N Lunchbox
Buddah's jets
CBR F2 rearsets
Ducati pass pegs (Modified)
Kat rear wheel
Carbon Fiber Exhaust Can, possibly shortened and relocated
And so on......

Thanks Chanse,

Oh for sure, I do need to clean the frame up. The whole thing is going to end up black, I just wanted to ride the bike for a few weeks before taking it off the road for another two.
As for the bandit swap, I've been thinking about a wider rear tyre but just can't justify the price. And I'm in Australia, so shipping for your parts would be a Buddha Loves You.

Thanks all the same.

Sorry to thread jack but what expletive gets you "Bhudda loves you"???

Made some mounts out of aluminium sheet for new headlight brackets. Took way too long with an angle grinder, drill and file, but I'm happy with the results.

Also put those drag bars on. Finally happy with how the front end looks, apart from the brake line and speedo cable runs.

I've neatened up the cables since the photos, and it looks like captain blurrycam and admiral noflash invaded the camera, so I'll take better pics on the ride tomorrow.

Since the last update I've painted the frame/subframe/swinger/engine/forks/brakes in satin black. I'll have to get some better pictures of the brakes for next update. Here's a shot to give you guys an idea.

I got myself some new toys to play with....

I dig the rear sets. Followed your link and got pretty excited over the price, but $27 shipping?!?! Dang!  :nono:

Also, I imagine the turbo set up is for something other than your gs?  :dunno_white:
This is the old cb400f cruisin' the viaduct

I'd love to see it go on a GS, but I see a couple extra parts in there that would never go on a GS, so I'm not completely sure. What are your plans??
The bike looks great so far!

mitch.lax

Planning to turbo the GS using an IHI RHB5 VJ11 from an early MX6 . Looking at the flow maps, the turbo should comfortably support 80hp to 200hp ( I'll be shooting for the former ). It'll probably spool up fairly slowly but I got it for a good price (read: freeee) so I'll give it a go.

The intercooler is way too big to mount either under the tail or in front of the bike where I wanted. I'm either going to have to source a smaller one or run without. All the pipework associated is the IC plumbing from the MX6 so I grabbed it too just in case it was useful.

There is a problem using this sort of turbo on the GS... It's watercooled. I've thought about it for a while and ended up ordering an Audi heatercore and electric water pump to run a dedicated cooler for it. I've also got a nine row oil cooler coming too. Just to be safe. Last thing I want when doubling stock hp is overheating. The fun part will be the fabrication of the manifold and airbox. Fuelling  will be easier if I stick to blow through carbs -so that's what I'll do.

Will also need a rising rate fuel pressure regulator, wideband O2 sensor and electronic fuel pump  but that'll come when I'm closer to getting the bike running. mounts, manifold, pipes and airbox fabrication comes first. Really don't want the bike off the road for too long, so it'll b done in stages....

Exciting days ahead

I'm at work now and can't see the pictures to this thread anymore. Does your GS already have an oil cooler? because you can't put one on the earlier model GSs that didn't have one.

I don't really know anything at all about turbos, but I'm pretty interested in them. I'll definitely look forward to seeing what you come up with. 200hp sounds a little high for a 45hp turd(haha, sorry guys) to pump out, but whatever kind of increase you get will still be fun.

mitch.lax

No way I'll get 100hp let alone 200 out of our little gem. 80hp has been achieved before with a gs turbo so I'm hoping for that. The 200 is the flow rate for the turbo. The engine will NEVER move that much air :)

tt_four

I always get them mixed up when people for "former and latter", I know which one's which, but I still get them mixed up every time. 80hp sounds much better. You'll be putting sv650s to shame. I've never seen anyone turbo a GS, so it sounds like a fun project. Someday I'll put a turbo on something for a project, but at this point it's way over my head.
