Second one looks alright, but the first one says it's over 800km!

What about a ride up through the hills like springbrook or over glorious?

Courtesy of a police person I know...

Operation "Road Blitz" - Massive operation against motorcycle riders not obeying road rules across QLD.
From: Wednesday, July 6, 2011
To: Tuesday, July 26, 2011

Other riders I know who do the Usual "Glorious" and "Springbrook" got pulled over twice on Sunday in two separate locations for machinery Checks, license checks and other stuff. Not to mention the 4 speed cameras / radar traps they encountered on their brief ride in That area. With this blitz, even the Numinbah will be manned either at the Springbrook turnoff - or - the Numinbah Valley Township, opposite the school. So if you want to do the Burringbah Range twists just before Mooball you'd need to travel to Murwillumbah via the highway to avoid getting pulled over and a fine tooth comb gone over your ride to find a defect to fine you for.

*I* personally do Not ride those areas (Glorious / Springbrook) because... they are full of wannabe Casey Stoners and are high in enforcement and high targets for the regular Blitz's that go on, like this month. All my routes I ride are lucky if you see one cop car all day, have some nice twisties and good scenery too. Are just plain fun to ride and aren't full of guys that should be taking it to the track.Feel free to ride them yourself, if you want. I choose the less populated/enforced but equally enjoyable routes.  :thumb:

That's ok my bike probably won't be back on the road till after then due to arriving parts, but when I go riding with my mate we've been over glorious and nebo several times and only seen the boys in blue once but if you stick to the limit and not go stupid they'll leave u alone, but as for me taking all those corners at the limit is good nough for me owing to my skill but yeah ok. I just thought it's twisty and close to brissy and it's a couple hour ride.

Sure, Glorious and Nebo are close and twisty. I agree with you. *I* don't ride them however. I don't mean not ever. Cause on certain times I do. But those times are not weekend times. On weekends, even if you do not see the cops they are there. Unmarked. Glorious/Nebo on a weekend  = no go zone, for me. Weekday/workday = fine  :thumb:

I prefer not putting myself into the High Enforcement / High Wannabe Track Riders areas/days. Obviously, going by the popularity of the Glorious/Nebo area, not everyone thinks like me. Which is good as it keeps the riders & cops away from the areas I do enjoy. Sure I need to go a little further afield. But that's alright with me. The two routes I posted are great runs. Add the Mt Lindesay twists to that one and it's even better.  ;)

Alright sweet as well do mt Lindsay then, yeah I should have said I don't ride them weekends I get Monday's off so that's when my mate and I ride them. But I no what u mean by all the wannabes and why the cops do show numbers there and why you wouldn't ride it often if at all.

You can obey the traffic rules all you want but if you get pulled over during one of the blitzes they will find something to ping you for. Rego sticker not in the correct place, fender is to short, indicators not far enough apart. An @$$hole cop can defect something on brand new cars to fine you with if they want to. If it is the Indooroopilly cops doing the blitz on MT Nebo/Glorious they will comb your bike till they do find something.

slipperymongoose

Very true they can be right royal ($);?$$!!!! At times.

Yes indro traffic branch are a"'&$holes had many a run in with them , even with test-driving cars from work sitting on our test routes ( booking for as low as 5 klms over or cutting or touching white lines ) was on one of the motorbike cops hit list for years then he turned up at my sons school in the same class lol he is not really a bad bloke out of uniform.

mister

The role of a Traffic Cop is to book people. That is their prime function. The be all and end all of their job. They are NOT part of the normal branch system inasmuch as going to people's homes to take statements from the rowdy party which damaged a fence and whatnot. They arrive at work knowing they are tasked with booking as many people as they can within their designated time frame and location zone. That is why they never let you off - unlike normal car cops who are known to let you off.

If they are set up with a radar gun it is Not to give warnings but to fill quotas.

In short, they are just doing their job. It isn't personal, even though it can seem like they are picking on you. And we all know it is actually BS and has no Real bearing on crashes and whatnot. But again, it is their job as instructed to them by their higher ups.

How's this Sunday Sep 4th if it doesn't rain or Sep 11th suit you guys?

I'm thinking Eltham http://tinyurl.com/3mkcprw (Slightly different to how we went last time - diff after Mulimbimby.

Or a shorter ride to Beaudesert for lunch via Lake Moogerah -  http://tinyurl.com/47nm9tm

Or, Urbenville via Moogerah and Queen Mary Falls (with a stop at the lookout) http://tinyurl.com/3rpyvrh
