That is possibly the saddest thing i have seen in a long time, a fate i would consider worse than death.  I really do feel for her and her loved ones and hope the pin down what actually cause the onset of that disease, it could be a coincidence but somehow i doubt that.

That was a very sad video. I found no comedy in that at all...

Did not find it funny at all. I took the flu vaccine in 2006. Started getting some minor hives stopped in by my doc thank God I did. Sat down in the waiting room woke up 9 hours later in ICU. My whole body shut down and I almost died.

I also have a friend that has Gillien Barre syndrom that can cause similar problems. Imagine this not being able to move or breathe but being totally aware of it. He had to be on a ventilator for two weeks while his nerves tried to repair themselves.

I'm very against the Flu Vaccine and even though am high risk refuse to get the pneumonia vaccine.

Anybody that rides a motorcycle should not find any humor in that, on good crash and you may be walking funny the rest of your life too   :nono:

That definitely sucks.  I feel bad for her, but she's very pretty and seems like a nice person.

Ok, I don't think it is funny that she has a debilitating neurological disorder; that is terrible and I would not wish it on anyone.

The part where she runs and talks normal but goes all wobbly when she slows down made me laugh, big deal.

If I had a disability I would rather someone laugh at a video of me than view me like a helpless baby that needs to be pitied.

Don't mean to sound like I'm paranoid or anything BUT reckon it's the government trying something new out? Each Vaccination has it's own Number. She's Basically well the same as the rest of us.Excluding the good looks,Nice Boobies and well other things I reckon but well to the government well why not throw this out there to see what Kind of effect it has on this unknowing person.

In my disability yes I poke fun at it. But, I'm on the mind set of laugh with me about it don't laugh at me! I really don't think she was wanting anyone's pity as a-matter-of-fact you will find very few people who are truly disabled in a state of pity. Most are stronger and able than those who are able bodied. Look at Stephen Hawking he has more potential in his pinky finger (only thing that physically works) than most of us have in our whole body.

On other news I got my new Energizer Bunny implant! Still sore but doing okay. Hopefully I will be on Flick on Friday!

That's all I'm saying!

This is a tragic reminder of how fragile we all are.  Enjoy your health while you have it, because you never know when fate might snatch it away from you.

As sad as that story is it should not stop people from going out and getting their yearly flu shot and this flu season the H1N1 swine flu shot.  Everyone knows that immunisations carry very small risks and in this case she was unfortunate to fall into the 1 in a million jabs that has serious side effects.

In saying this though what if everyone was to stop having the yearly flu shot and immunising their kids?  There would be a sh!t load more deaths every year.

As a parent of a child with a disability (my 13 year old daughter has downs syndrome) she is in the high risk bracket so my family has the flu shot every year regardless to help protect her and ourselves.

I suggest everyone NOT be put off with stories like this and refuse to get the jab but be sensible and think how many people you could pass the flu or swine flu onto this year if you do not have the jab.

Don't be fooled by the stats showing 10,000 people die each year in America from the common flu.  Have the attitude the more people that have the flu shot and immunisations that 10,000 deaths will be reduced greatly.

Stay well people and keep you and your kids up to date with your shots.

Yes, it's not just about protecting you - it's a public health deal, to keep the virus from spreading.  The general 'herd immunity' is quite important for the less immunocompetent.

I got the regular seasonal shot (they had thimerosal-free vaccines available for pregnant women).  I'm not in a risk group, so I haven't gotten the H1N1 shot yet.

As per the video - is there any kind of reputable source out there for what actually happened?  I did a little google-fu, and everything leads back to that TV news story.  The link with Guillain-BarrĂ© was very specifically the 1976 flu vaccine, and subsequent vaccines haven't seen that kind of link - the links have been made between G-B and the actual seasonal flu are much stronger.  Nice review, and personal account from G-B-afflicted health care professional:

Herd immunity ... sorry not my problem. Glad thimerosal free is available, but my insurance wont cover it, and H1N1 isn't thimerosal free, and more importantly ... I would like the Idiots in the public transit get out of the way of 1000's of cars they are holding it. AKA herd mobility ... sorry your right to herd immunity ends with the point where my body begins ... much like my right to wave my fists like a maniac end where your nose begins.

My son has been titered out of all vaccines since he was 2 years old. Pity we didn't know that mercury causes autism before we jab him up 8 times before his 14th month. We dont get flu shots either and neither does he. I dont see how a virus can be worse than a neurotoxin.

Cool.

Wow, a government promoted (and often required) program with negative side effects not getting much public air time?  I can't imagine why.  All the isolated issues associated with getting vaccines get very limited and, often only, local coverage...because they don't really want you to know there's side effects.  Their severity and commonality, regardless of how high or low, can never justify injecting your body with known toxic compounds (aluminum and mercury, for example) for the sake of preventing an illness your body can defeat within a few days on it's own...not to mention that the vaccine doesn't even prevent you from getting the illness anyway.  It only vaccinates you from the most common strains of influenza, and you don't see people hospitolized from "common influenza".

Quote from: The Buddha on October 28, 2009, 11:20:17 AMPity we didn't know that mercury causes autism before we jab him up 8 times before his 14th month.

It's absolutely RIDICULOUS!  Looking at the ingredients to a simple Hep B vaccine...something like 3x the amount of aluminun considered safe for an adult to consume is put into an INFANT three times before six months of age.

I can rant and rant about this but let me clarify one thing:  vaccines are not "bad", but should be taken with a full understanding of what they do, and they should NEVER be administered, nor required, when unnecessary (like Flu vaccines).

It's still not proven yet that shots can cause autism.  Extensive research by several countries is being done atm to try and prove this link.  I as well have come by parents that have said the same that their son/daughter now has autism because of an immunisation shot.  Even Oprah got on this band wagon and injected funding into this research and even did a show on it couple years back.

If this is true (yet to be proven) they will fall into the extreme minority that has a severe reation.  I know it is sad if it happens but again I say what if we did stop all immunisations and shots.

The following would kill or disable more than 10,000 people a year in america if it was not for immunisation programs.
smallpox, polio, measles, diphtheria, Hib, pertussis (whooping cough),rubella, tetanus and this is just a few off the top of my head.

I prefer the 1 in a million odds for me and my family VS having the above run wild in the population again and kill millions.  Sorry if I offend anyone here with what I am about to say but I am sure those of you that do not believe in shots for the extreme rare side effects would be first inline at the docs if your city was infected with smallpox.  The small cost of a shot is surely worth the price of a loved ones life or anyones life for that matter.  Don't know what the cost is in America but on this side of the duck pond the seasonal flu shot is $20 and the H1N1 swine flu shot is FREE.  All other immunisation shots relating to the kids are free as well.
