tutorial on drilling out/hollowing out bars on my 99?

I'd like to get a new set of bar ends, or even bar end mirrors.

My choices are limited due to the fact that the bars on my 99 are not hollow.

Can you guys tell me how to remove the threaded plug/insert whatever, or how to make my bars hollow?

you may be able to drill the hole out bigger and thread it, then just dont use the insert with the barend. may or may not work, someone else may have a better idea
