I just wanted to thank all my fellow Vets who severed our great nation! Many people don't realize the every day, simple things that service members sacerfice to protect our country and way of life. Like long hours, low pay, missing holidays and weekends and months of time with your friends and family. Or the many firsts of your children like their first steps, words, birthdays, day of school, and birth of grandchildren, ect. These are the times that many people take for granted that service members often only get to experience through photos.  So, if you know of a Vet please consider giving them a call, or stop by their home and thank them; because gratitude and appreciation does go a long way.  -- JIm, Submarine Vet  89'-95'

It's got to be a strange & sad feeling for this guy, the last of 3 known veterans of the First war to end all wars.  He's pretty spry for 106.   Doesn't look a day over 80.

Seeing the old boy from WW1 reminded me that this time last year we in UK had three survivors still with us, it was very moving to see them laying wreaths at the national commemoration. Oddly enough they were sailor, soldier and airman and in the last year we have lost them all, there is still one Brit survivor who nows lives in Australia.

There seems to be a revival of interest in WW1, perhaps because of the sheer bloody scale of it coupled with the coming centenary. It won't be many years till we start counting the WW2 generation, we must make the most of them now whilst we still can and those from more recent conflicts and maybe we will even learn a lesson or two.
