I am going for my honeymoon on the 26th.

Just curious if anyone has any tips, comments, cool places to see, etc..

lonelyplanet.com is a great travel forum, but watch out for the trolls.

go to a bookstore today and pick yourself  up a decent travel guide.  make sure your passports are up to date.   check to see if you need any innoculations before you leave.

On those days when life is a little too much and nothing seems to be going right, I pause for a moment to ponder the wise last words of my grandfather:  "I wonder where the mother bear is?"

I went during the summer of '08.

Pick up a Lonely Planet guide book, they are the best. If you're in Bangkok, get street food, go to the markets, the aquarium if you've got a bit of money (it's pretty expensive, but worth it). Go see the big temples and palaces, there should be plenty to keep you occupied for a while.

From Bangkok I went into Nong Khai, in northern Thailand near the Laos border. That was a great place, very quiet and peaceful. Lots more temples, national parks, etc. If you're up there, stop by the Mut Mee guest house, rent a bicycle, ride around to wherever you want to go, have dinner on their boat at sunset on the Mekong.

Again, Lonely Planet guidebook will set you in the right direction. I was only in Thailand for about a week before we moved on to Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia, so I didn't get to see a whole lot, just the big stuff.

Thanks for the info I don't think I have time to order a guide book online, do they sell them in stores?

We are going to Koh Phi Phi for a week then Khao sok for a week then Bangkok for a week.

Yeah, you can pick up a Lonely Planet in most large book stores.

When you're in Bangkok, go get a custom shirt or custom suit made. I suggest Raja's Fashion (google for the address, or ask around when you're there). Shirts are $30, Suits are $300. Custom made! It's fantastic. Be sure to go first thing, because it takes a while to get everything made and re-fitted, etc.

Don't get taken advantage of, guard your money, and haggle for everything in the markets. Don't be afraid to walk away, you'll see the same thing a few booths down. Same same, but different (but not really different).
