I have my carbs apart in order to rejet and mess with the idle mixture screw to hopefully solve some issues I'm having at idle. I bought a pair of pilot jets from a member on the forum over a year ago and have had them sitting until now. When I removed them from their baggie I noticed one was slightly bent:

Does anyone know if this will effect fuel flow through the jet? If it's going to reduce the rate of flow then I'm going to have to get a new one.

Another question: The stock 17.5 pilot jet (on the right in the picture below) has a larger shaft than the 20 pilot jet (on the left):

Is the size of the shaft of the jet supposed to correspond to the jet number (i.e. larger number = larger jet)?  When holding the jets up to some light and looking through them, it seems that the orifice of the 20 is ever so slightly larger than the 17.5. Given this, I feel like it's the correct size but I just wanted to make sure.

The diameter of the shank should not matter ...

You buy the thing from me ? I'll replace the bent one ... though its a manufacturing defect ... should have been stopped before it left the factory, and worse yet, I should have not shipped it. But oh well ... live and learn, I dont expect machined metal parts that have been produced in massive quantities to have a defect ... like how do you make sure they are .2mm dia - like how. Anyway, send me your mailing address andI'll mail you a replacement.

Cool.

Thanks Buddha for chiming in, I was hoping you would. I didn't buy them from you actually, I got them from member jt_234. I don't think he sold the bad one to me on purpose. Had I taken a closer look upon receiving the pair I would've told him and maybe gotten half my money back. Oh well, I'll order another one. Where's the best place to order jets? I've compiled a list from various posts regarding jets on the forum but if you could steer me to the better/best outlets I'd appreciate it.

Thanks for the info regarding the shank size.

Well I'd then sell ya a single pilot for $5 ... most of it is shipping and baggie for it.

I dunno if your dealer stock em or you have to order, buy 4 and wait ... mine does order and I do buy 4's ... not that its ever been a concern cos I sell em all the time.

Cool.
