i don't split lanes, partly cause I would get me a fat ticket and partly because I think I risk enough just riding a bike i don't want to toss in a couple extra risks just to save a minute or 20, That's what back roads are for.

That being said the rider in that video in my opinion was riding a little fast for the conditions but wasn't his fault at all.  Lady in car who couldn't wait anymore should have at least looked real good before doing something that is illegal to begin with.  That is if the sad lady inspecting that car is driver that hit him.

I assumed it was the asian kid who started talking to him first.

precisely why lane splitting is a bad idea...

Explain why it is a bad idea? I just watched the video and the cager clearly broke the law crossing from the carpool lane into regular lanes across the double yellow. If prevailing traffic was under 25 and he was no faster than 10mph faster than prevailing traffic he has a pretty good legal leg to stand on as I understand it. Of course I also subscribe tio the dead right theory as well you might be right, but if your dead it doesn't matter.

I wish lane splitting were accepted here in my state.
Why didn't you just go the whole way and buy me a f@#king Kawasaki you bastards.

I think it's a matter of comfort level and personal safety. Even were it legal here, I still wouldn't do it. I don't think it's safe. Hard enough watching out for boneheads in traffic without giving them more ammo for the "i didn't see you" defense.

In my short time riding I've gotten enough coffee in face and had to doge enough cars without lane splitting >:( even if it were legal, I wouldn't do it

If someone threw coffee in my face they'd have a big a$$ dent in their quarter panel. OMG my best friend (trained as Navy Seal so don't do this at home) was cut off twice by the same woman talking on the cell phone. So, when we got to the red light he put the kick stand down politely walked up to her waved at her then broke off the antenna. I was like WTF did you really just do that?!?!?!? Bet she will pay more attention.

Of course here in Kissimmee cars try to lane split on bikes! A school bus came flying right into my lane going 15 over the speed limit and the driver was on the phone. Yes, there were kids on board!

I've seen a couple school bus drivers on their cell phones. I don't even have kids and it terrifies me. Busses are well known here for just putting themselves where they want to be in traffic.
