Well, technically it's a Land Rover 90 with a hard top, full roll cage, bikini top and 2.5l TDi. Not getting rid of the S3, just adding a younger sibling to the stable.

Then you'll put it through its paces and get a mate to take a picture and show us.....wontcha...
Black Beemer  - F800ST.
In Cricket the testicular guard, or Box, was introduced in 1874. The helmet was introduced in 1974. Is there a message??

spc

Absolutely. I plan on getting em both out(the new defender and its older sibling series 3)  to the mudhole/shooting range and giving em a custom brown paint job.   Ill post the pics from the for sale ad tonight.

I'm pretty fond of 'real' Rovers.  Don't much care for the newer Range Rovers and Discos.

The gent selling it is in England until next tuesday so I have to wait to buy it until then.  He's got another one in the same price range, a 110 3.9l petrol with the white top and blue bottom body panels.  It's also got a coat of fresh paint and new interior.  I guess I have til wednesday to pick which one I want.

Once I pick it up I'll be ordering a Red Dot AC, just have to wait and see which model AC I'll need depending on interior volume.

Pablo, you missed a cherry SIII Stage 1 with the roof racks and everything out your way for something ridiculously cheap like 10k.  It was gorgeous.  I was willing to buy it but by the time I saw the ad it had already sold.

TDi?  They're offering a diesel version in the US?  I've had my Jetta TDI for about 6 months now...the engine still impresses the shiat outta me!  And I haven't smelled a diesel fume yet!   :woohoo:
On those days when life is a little too much and nothing seems to be going right, I pause for a moment to ponder the wise last words of my grandfather:  "I wonder where the mother bear is?"

spc

I don't believe they did offer a NAS tdi. This is a british market truck imported here. A 30+mpg off road behometh sounds like a ton of fun to me.

My friend in Oz has a 2.0 turbodiesel Freelander...it goes and goes and goes...

Yeah, we never get the good stuff in the states.  I was looking at importing a 300tdi Disco before I stumbled on these Rovers.
Now, I just have to find a 200tdi engine with a dead turbo to do a 200di swap in my series :icon_twisted:

couple of pics.  I'm gonna go crazy for the next week waiting to pick it up.

Nice, that looks to be in fine shape too :thumb:

This is the 110 that I 'might' get instead.  It's a petrol, which I DO NOT like, but I love 110's and the color scheme is so typically LR.

I would opt for the diesel model over a petrol model as well, they just have more character and go forever if cared for remotely decently.

what's the trasition like to go from driving "left hand side" to "right hand side"? i only ask because a few months ago my toyota dealership had a right hand drive car on display. the story was that someone had paid the extra cash to have one like that to be "unique".  :dunno_white:
finally a homeowner!

It's not bad.  All the controls are the same(accelerator is still far right, clutch left, most transmissions are the same though some are reversed), you just have to get used to being in a different place on the road.  It took me about a week before I was really confident in my driving ability, though having 3 tons of steel around me might have helped.

This title is misleading, I was expecting pictures of a tacticool mossberg defender shotgun. You sir are a waste of good bandwidth... :icon_lol:

Ok seriously get the diesel, it'll last forever with good maintenance.
Why didn't you just go the whole way and buy me a f@#king Kawasaki you bastards.

spc

The diesel is going to depend on the engine serial. Some early models were prone to irreperable block cracks.
As far as the mossy, no shotguns but I am picking up a colt combat commander tomorrow.

spc

I bought the Combat Commander today.  I bought it from a shop down in GA so it's being shipped the whole 20 miles so the pawn shop around the corner can do the transfer.  Should have it in my possession NLT Monday.  Mechanically, it's in perfect shape with  Wilson Combat beavertail, match trigger, springs, barrel and trijicon sights.  Cosmetically, it's seen better days.  The shop took it on trade from a 'contractor' for a Colt Delta Elite 10mm :icon_eek: and gave me a sweet deal on it.  I'm going to have my smith Duracoat it around the beginning of the year after I figure out what else I want him to do to it.  I'm thinking a flat black slide and dark brown frame.

Enjoy the colt, I just picked up a Tanfoglio TA 90 in 9mm yesterday at lunch. It's basically a CZ 75 clone with the slide mounted decocker safety. I shot a rifle match last weekend where we did a lot of transitions to the pistol I had a huge time penalty on one stage I failed to complete the pistol portion we had a series of steel poppers and a texas star, I had problems on the texas star and didn't knock the last plate off before I ran out of ammo. I wound up getting tagged with a 30 second penalty for running out of ammo and a 15 second penalty for leaving one plate. 24 rounds was not enough.
