I have in my possession a 1991 Suzuki GSX 600f. I know this is a GS500 forum but I would like your input. My plan is to get it running and have it painted, and I want you all to be there during this journey. I will expect comments.

+1 we want pics
Silver 2006 GS500F
GStwin decals, K&N Lunchbox, Jardine Exhaust, 22.5/60/142.5, Vortex clip-ons.

Statistics are like a bikini - what they reveal can be interesting, but it's what they conceal that really matters.

GSX600_Bmore

I do not know how to post pictures. Inform me and I will.

gregvhen

you have to upload them on a photo site first. I use, as well as most people, photobucket. upload them there, then on the left of the screen it will say something like image code, or something, you have to copy the image code from photobucket and paste it in a post on here.  Or if you dont see the code on the left, when your lookin at the pic on photobucket, if your mouse is on the pic, theres a menu at the top where it says share, click that find the code that way

Yes I am from Bodymore (aka) Baltimore. I am good friends with BaltimoreGS. I actually bought this bike from him.

You can share your journey here w/ us. So first... what specifically will this journey entail - "get it running and have it painted" is pretty broad.

Cool bike!   Nice shape for 18 years!  Background story?  Who owned it?  How did you come by it?   Was it love at first sight and you had to have it at any price, or did someone die and you were paid to take it out of the garage it has been sitting in?  What's wrong with it?  What does it do or not do?  What mystery fluids are leaking and where?  How old are the tires?

There are quite a few non-GS owners in here.   I started with a '97e and then an '05f, but I currently have a DL650 Wee-Strom, but I still lurk in a dark corner here.  Lots of knowledgeable people here, but you'll probably have to bribe them with cupcakes or something to get anything from them!

Welcome!
On those days when life is a little too much and nothing seems to be going right, I pause for a moment to ponder the wise last words of my grandfather:  "I wonder where the mother bear is?"

My journey will include replacing the spark plugs and adjusting the valve and everything else that goes along with that. I  am also painting the bike. I will post my progress through this project. I will also ,once the bike is on the road, will take pictures of myself and friends riding.

My friend had bought this bike for parts. Upon taking it apart he realized he had something that was worth a lot more than just parts. After finding out it ran he had told me about it and I had decision to make. I could either save my money and purchase a newer bike ,which would take a lot longer, or i could give him $250 payments and have a bike to ride in the spring. I decided i would rather just have a bike to be able to ride. The bike only needs a few minor things done to it. I am going to replace the spark plugs and adjust the valves to get it running. My friends Pig and Jessie(oringinal owner) and I are going to paint the plastics and tank. Nothing is leaking, don't have to worry about antifreeze because it is air cooled. The tires look good no visible dry rot. Not sure how old they are.

Aircooled?

I thought they were cooled with milk in the hallow handlebars. I don't know, that's what I heard on the internet so it must be true  :icon_mrgreen:

yea sorry to tell you, but its not air cooled. Mister is right about the milk.  Skim milk works the bes t for me.

GSX600_Bmore

Here are some pics after i spent a little time on it.

+1 on the skim milk.  Anything over 2% and you're going to have problems.  And don't waste your money on the "Motorcycle Milk" either.  Any old wal-mart stuff will do.  Except maybe for the California dairy stuff... a friend of mine with an old Katana used that for YEARS!
