Fix a flat???

Hey all,
 I'm wondering what to get for flat tire repair. (And don't say "a pump"    ) I'm talking about...      nail + tire = BAD
 What are the best preventive and repair kits out there? Can you use them on the road? (stuff like that.)

Since you only have 2 tires, and you need both all the time, Im going to say that you should probably just get a new tire if you put a hole in one.

I supose if your stranded and have nothing else you could plug it with something, but then you would still need a pump  :lol:

Carry a can of puncture seal.

It's apain to get out of the tire, but it'll get you to where you need to go in a pinch.

I always carry one of those preasurised cans of sealant in the top-box, never needed to use it yet, hope I never do but it's cheep enough and i would not be comfortable without it.

This could turn into one of those "What do you always carry?" things like womens handbags! I'll kick-off, tyre sealant in the top box and in the pockets of the buffalo jacket, small mag-lite, swiss army knife couple of rags and in a sleeve pocket a disposable resusitation aid and a couple of sterile wipes for the less endearing aspects of someone elses blood'n'snot.
  A lesson learned after doing it once, as a pedestrian not biker.

How's that slime stuff... Green or purple semi solid... should be in the tire before the flat... Squirt it in and spin the wheel and it stays liquid as you drive then if you pick up a nail it oozes out and solidifies... You lose most your air but not all... enough to limp home. I actually squirted it in my katana rear wheel, and spun it a few times and inflated it to 15 psi. and rode it the 50 miles home and still had 10+ psi in the tire when I got home. Not too bad. had to keep under 50 or so though... just my lack of confidence.

Carry this stuff and a pump.
This stuff works.  Had it in rear tire for over 5,000 miles and never
gave it a second thought after the first few hundred miles.
You can put this in ahead of time but I don't.  It works so well that you could have a nail in the tire for weeks before you notice it.  If you are going to put it in ahead of time you should check the tires on a daily basis to make sure you don't have a nail in them.
