Mine is a '97, but the only difference are the connectors, I can reuse my old ones!

How much for your stator? Do you have any idea of the mileage on it?

Tks!

blackbird79

22000 miles on the engine, but he bought the rotor after so im not sure.

The Buddha

A stator that is relatively light colored is best. You dont want any of the poles darker than any of the others and you dont want them all burnt to a crisp. Beer colored ... american beer colored is about what they have new.
Of course resistance readings are useful too. As high as possible with none of em infinity (open).
Cool.

Buddha,

According to the post http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=38480.0,

16) Measure the resistance between each two-wire pairing.  (Make sure to test the
wires leading to the alternator and NOT those attached to the wiring harness.)

                   Yellow   +   White-Blue
                   Yellow   +   White-Green
               White-Blue   +   White-Green

The readings should all be fairly close to ZERO.
(If significant resistance exists, there may be a break in the stator coils.  But
before taking the bike apart, double check the connections and wires
         between here and the alternator!)

I've got confused!

Blackbird, do you have a Lager or a Stout Rotor? :) I want something light!, a Draft one would be perfect!  :icon_lol:

The Buddha

OK I dunno what he was measuring, stator coils have a resistance ... lets see, 18 guage wire has approximately 5 ohm a 100ft, and a phase conservatively from my old calculation is atleast 25 ft, between phases its 50 ft and I'm gonna call it at 2.5 ohm or close enough. It cannot be 0 that is a dead short.

Cool.

I read your post b4 the buddahss and was like WTF but ya i took a look and a light beer really is a perfect description of it

The Buddha

Mu haha ... I have seen them in blue also, blue epoxy is fine as well.
Cool.

I believe the blue ones are aftermarket, right? I've seen some of them on ebay... but brand new though.

So it can be a blue moon as well... wow.. I love beer....

The Buddha

Electrex used to make it blue. I have also seen grey dunno who makes that.
I wound my vulcan one and coated it with clear epoxy. It was ... well spectacular.
Cool.

I got one laying around also.  $75 shipped?  Don't know what there are really worth.
