3-Circuit Carb Photo & Questions

Ok, so I've pulled my carbs and I'm installing Buddha's jet kit.

You'll see in the picture I've labeled some things.

1. Main jet -- this gets replaced with the #130 from Buddha
2. Pilot jet -- this gets replaced with the #20 from Buddha
3. Mid circuit? -- not sure of correct name
4. ??? -- no idea what this is.  Is there some cool surprise hiding under this brass cover?
5. Air screw -- I reset this to 2.5 turns out from being 5 turns out when I was trying to stop some misfiring

Is my numbering correct?  I'm hoping I identified the main jet correctly.  What is 4?

I also got some washers to place on the jet needles.  Should I bother with putting these on?

what year is your bike? different from my carb insides. im guessing 02-upwards?

Is that when they changed? I thought it was 02 that they changed.  

Cause my 98 carbs which are off now and my 92's which are in my bike now are the same. and totally different from those.

Good pics though. Im sure many people will appreciate and gain knowledge from this. gives a good look into them and shows whats where for someone just delving into a carb rebuild/jet.  :thumb:

The Buddha

Brass cover we always yak about drilling out, on yours has been removed. It was covering #5.
#4 should not be touched. Its a carb chassis drill bit access port used by the factory to blid drill a specific passage and then close it off. Motors, carbs, anything that is cast but has intricate passages has these plugs.

#3 is mid main, you dont have to change it unless yours is shot to hell and very hard to tune with washers alone. Very unlikely ...

1 and 2 are mains and pilot, you have em swapped with the ones in my pack, you're good, and I am sourcing washers, in case yours have trouble, let me know, I'll send you some soon.
