I took my fugly stand off as well, and stick the bolts back thru the stand  for servicing, then pull that fucker back off.

I leave my center stand on. I tank up on the center stand. Lube the chain on the center stand. Don't scrape it... then again, I don't consider the public road a safe enough place to lean so much I'd scrape the stand.
