Next week is March!

I never remember how nice any months are except for March, and that's because in 2003 when I bought my last motorcycle I had been patient up until those 70 degree days we started getting in March. That's when I couldn't take it anymore and I went out and finally got my bike. Ever since I always know that March is the month I look forward to all year for being able to get back out on the road. I spend last summer and fall fixing up the GS that's been instorage since roughly 2005, and aside from buying fuel lines, and some random cosmetic business(paint and fiberglass once it's nice enough to do work outside), I'll be able to get back on the road on a motorcycle for the first time in about 5 years! The GS is technically my wife's, but she stopped riding it when I sold my last bike, and she doesn't even have her permit anymore, so we're gonna transfer it into my name and I'm gonna take over it full time until I find myself a new bike. I've lost about an hour of sleep every night for a while now because every night when I get in bed and actually have time to think I just lay there thinking about how fun it's gonna be to go out and start riding again.

Ever since I decided I wanted to start riding again last spring I've been taking note of every street I've seen that looks like it would be fun to ride on, so I've got about a years worth of roads to make up, not to mention every store/place outside of 4-5 miles of my house that I've been waiting to get to once I have fun transportation again. The last time I had been riding I was only about 21, so I'm also curious to see how my self control will be. I think the 60hp drop since my last bike should keep me out of some trouble though.

The mascot of the GS500.. The creature that's got the biggest ugliest a$$ of them all.
A wombat. It's got a big ugly a$$ too.

There will be snow here as well. March isn't the official end to winter and start of spring as far as weather goes, it's just the first time of the year that we usually get 70 degrees, so I'll most likely be able to get out for a couple rides. Still have to be careful because the roads will still be a mess, and I'll still have to clean my bike forever afterwards because there will be salt around, but either way my tail and front fender are just getting a quick spray paint so once I've had a couple good rides in and am ready to take a weekend or two off I'm gonna have to pull it all apart again so I can properly paint the tail and fender, as well as finish fiberglassing my undertail so it actually meet up with the tail, and that'll give me a good chance to clean all the salt out.

I agree man, can't wait to take mine back out. Took it out about 2 weeks ago, the day of the last big snow storm here in PA...I was so happy to be riding it...and freezing! lol

Haha, I didn't even bother to look out a window while I was getting ready for work this morning, but was very surprised once I actually got outside. Unfortunately it was way too late to consider walking. Oh well. The snow doesn't bug me right now because as I already mentioned, I'm too excited that next month is March and it'll be 70 degrees before I know it.

I can't wait...I'm getting ready to bring my bike back down to school in a few weeks and I'll just ride it when I can...

Warning! Just have to remind those hardcore riders. I made a mistake the other day. I am determined no matter what the weather I will ride my bike at least once a week. Yes I freeze my butt off and I have all of the gear to allow me to do that here in NJ. I forgot one things though. Here in the North East they use a lot of salt on the roads and I went riding about to days after the 3rd big snow storm we had here and it was very wet here and didn't think nothing about it. I went on a 45 minute ride and it was great. Came home and put the bike away.

Next day I came out in the garage and just by luck the way the bike was parked and they way I walked in the garage I saw my exhaust and it was coated with salt and was rusting all ready! I immediately pulled the bike out and sprayed it down with the coldest wash I have ever done (36 Degrees) but I had to do it. I won't make that mistake again. I will wait for at least one rain after snow before I ride.

That salt will eat a bike away in no time!

I took my bike out today since I had to move it out of my friend's garage in which I kept it.

I'll probably go for a ride tomorrow too.

I went and bought my fuel line today. I think if I put that on tomorrow my bike should be completely functional. Then it'll just be a matter of putting the tail and front fender back on and some stupid random little stuff like that.
