To access the guage lights you:
1. Unscrew the speedometer cable from the left gauge.
2. unbolt the two main bolts that attach the instrument housing to the bike.
3. turn the instrument housing upside down.
4. Unbolt the 4 bolts and three screws that hold the guage covers onto the guages. With a tad of force sepertae the guages from their housing. Note on the 04 - 07 you DO NOT have to remove the ODOMETER DIAL.
5. Just pull the the rubber light sockets striaght out. The light bulb will come with them.
6. Replace the globes with LEDS. Turn the ignition to ON to ensure the LEDS light up. If they don't try installing them in the other direction.
7. Reinstall is opposite to disassembly. 30 minute job at most!!!

dont know how to post direct links to posts from a thread but it was from http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=23589.180 and was posted by galahs on the 10th page if you want to check it out yourself...its a pretty simple job to do when i did it. i searched and found these instructions which made it very easy

WHAT IS IGNITION TIMING! LOL sorry  :technical:

The timing of when the spark plugs spark relative to where the piston is at inside the motor. Advancing the timing can make a bit more power up until a point, and then it starts doing more harm than good. The advancer should only advance the timing a bit, so it stays safe.

ohhh ahaha get it now thanks saxman  :thumb:
