so ever since my rejet, my bike has been a real pain to start, she always wants to die. here is my starting procedure:
full choke, if i leave it there to long (10 seconds) it dies
slowly back down choke till off, if i leave it on it dies
once choke is off i have to keep RPM's up (1.5k) until it warms enough to run on its own.

also when am coming to a stop pull the clutch in and blip the throttle sometimes it pops?

i have a yosh pipe, lunchbox, and 147.5 mains, 20 pilots whats the deal??

thanks in advance

did you adjust your mix screws properly?

#3
20 pilot jets?  Probably too small.

<edit> Never mind, you have 3-circuit carbs

Don't overlook other contributing problems such as vacuum leaks, loose exhaust gaskets and such.  You can adjust until MacArthur returns to no avail if those issues are present.

You did install the main in place of the main jet and not the mid's correct?  I had a similar problem with my bike when i went to my jardine and lunchbox and i had put the new mains where the mids were and also i had an exhaust leak which caused the popping.

Check to make sure the exhaust is tight at the headers and if you didn't replace the crush gaskets there that might be a problem since they are technically only meant to be one time use gaskets.

Also check to make sure that you put the jets in the right spot in the carbs as the mains and mids are both the same physical size.  You can check this without reopening the carbs by reading what size the ones you pulled out are.

popping can be caused by running lean or way rich, ide bet on either vacuum leak or jets installed wrong. also when you got the pilot jets you did get #20 bleed type right? the older carbs used non-bleed type, a 20 non-bleed would be super small.

Come on, he said "poping", how come nobody else was amused but me??  :dunno_black: I was super excited when I saw that this morning.

Which ones are the mids? I thought there was only the main jets and the idle jets. Are there more jets in the carbs that I don't even know about???

yes i did replace the main for main mid for mid, i know cause i made the same mistake, but realized it when it ran like crap so i tore it back apart changed um wala ran 1000 times better.

exhaust header does not have the gaskets?? Every time i have removed the header there were no gaskets?? but how would this explain the hard starts, i know they are cold blooded but i never had a problem before the rejet?

They crush down pretty well. Chances are they're just crushed and black so you assumed they were part of the engine case. Remove your exhaust, and take something thin and sharp like a small screwdriver or a scratch awl and scrape right where the exhaust bolts up. You may pop it off.

alright, so these are my spark plugs, it is deff. not rich, i have been running these since last summer which was after the K&N, jets, and exhaust. Sorry for the bad pics, i lost my cable to my camera so i have to use my phone, but it wont focus up close.

there is a little bit of brown near the front of the plug, quite a bit of gray around the insulator, and the ground electrode, and black on the threads?

Running HOT??? maybe a tad LEAN??? i am 4 turns out on my Air/fuel should i turn it back 1/2 turn?
