Head gasket leaking

Hello,

As the title suggests, my head gasket is leaking. I am about to order a new gasket and 4 new O rings for the cylinder head bolts. Is there anything else I should replace or check (besides the valve clearances) while I have it pulled apart? Anything else near the cylinder head that tends to leak and should be replaced?

Thanks

beware sand and crap dropping in as you disassemble. Its worse when you pull jugs.

Suggest long hot bath for the motor before opening up.

WAIT! dont order yet, save 40 bucks. I was stupid because i orded the gasket to a shop for 40 bucks, then got my idea. so i have an extra gsaket for the future, but before you order try what i did.  Pull the heads and sand them VERY VERY well. i should have took pics but i didnt. i used 400 grit sand paper and smoothed the head to an even shine across the whole surface where gasket meets the head.  Also sand the gasket you have now as well as you can.  Then sand the top of the cylinders.  i didnt sand these as well as i did the heads, but still got them fairly shiny.  Put it all back together rode around and no problems whatsoever. then about 1 week later the shop calls to let me know my new gasket is in.  Cant return it thuogh.
