Cleaning carb Question

So if i pull out the carbs , someone said i have to rejet or something, wat is that? ive never touched the carbs b4 so i hav no idea..... and wat can i use to clean the carbs instead of carb cleaner

You can clean the metal stuff with carb cleaner, but keep it off of plastic and especially the rubber diagrams.

The Clymer manual recommends a petroleum based cleaner to clean the carburetors with. An old toothbrush can be helpful. I'd stay away from a wire brush, because it will scratch stuff up.

If you're stock air and exhaust and all, you don't have to rejet, but it can be beneficial. There's lots of general info about rejetting on the wiki and available through forum search.

ah thanku so id ont need to rejet if im cleaning carbs , and do i have to retune it? can ij st pull it out clean it put it back on? and it'll work fine?

Assuming it was working fine before. You might just be able  run some carb cleaner fuel additive to it. It looks like your bike is fairly new; was there a specific reason you are cleaning them?

its an 01 rs125 =[ i have no idea wats been done to it but the bike starts and goes for a minute or 2 then it dies out n then after a few minutes it comes back im guess its jst flooded or something so yea all electrical stuff works jst engine , starts fine... sometimes

just a thought, my gs500 was doing the same thing (bogging, sputtering, and then stalling.)  Turns out I flooded the engine trying to get it started (faulty frame petcock which will be replaced soon) and I ended up with an air filter that was saturated with gasoline.  I cleaned the air filter (a K&N) re-oiled it, put fresh gas in it with some carb cleaner additive, and now it runs fine.  Didn't have to touch the carbs.

The Clymer Manual I have for the GS500 has a troubleshooting section that details the likely cause of various problems, and it recommends working on the carbs after examining other potential problems of which I cannot recall off the top of my head (it's been a long day.)

I wish I could have found one. I had to use a not-quite-small-enough sewing needle, compressed air, and carb cleaner when I cleaned my totally clogged jets. They were so clogged, compressed air wouldn't even go through them, even after some time in a bucket of chem-dip.

I found out the trick in a fit of desperation,  but as they say, necessity is the mother of invention!
