Hey guys,

The GS was stolen and today we made an assessment of what we need to do/fix/undo. The thieves drilled out the ignition, snipped its wires, ran some crazy wiring, and custom switches to get it running (see pictures). They broke the gas cap, scratched off the logos on the side panel and one side of the tank. We took off the crazy switches attached to the started solenoid and battery, cleaned up some stuff and made "the list" of stuff we need.

The new "switch" so that it will run

The new starter button they made

Drilled ignition

Snipped ignition wires

The old ignition

Now we need to get her back on the road, we got alot done today but need alot of random parts, that were broken or are now missing.

The list isn't too bad but please let me know if you got the part we need.

The BLUE piece that connects the side panels and the screws.

New Gas Tank cap ring (not the center black gas tank lid), just the silver part, and all the mounting and decorating screws

Headlight mounting bolts (bolts, nuts, and washers), these attach the headlight bucket to the headlight mounting brackets
Left side headlight mounting bracket (right side is still there). This attaches the headlight bucket to the bike.

Left and Right side side panel mounting bolts

Guage mounting bolts. These are the bolts that are flush  and round that mount the gauge cluster to the bike.

Gas Tank bolts. Only need one but two is fine

Little screw that is missing here on the fender

This bolt that attaches the fork brace

Thats it. We would appreciate any help and parts you guys are ready to part with! Let us know how much you'd like. We have paypal and hope to get riding soon

Thanks and have a good one

Hey man, sorry to hear about your bike being stolen, but real happy to see you got it back. Just wanted to let you know that pretty much every bolt you listed can be picked up at home depot for less than about $10 total. Just about all of mine have been replaced by now... the gas tank bolts, headlight bucket bolts, front fender bolts. They're all just standard metric bolts. Hope you get it back together soon!

Bastards for stealing that piece between the two rear panels. They must know that piece is a paint in the butt to find!

Good point.

I think the most necessary piece I need is the gas tank cap "ring", and the headlight bracket, if anyone has those let me know.

I will start shopping local hardware for some of the bolts

Considering the price of shipping you would be better off buying the ring from the dealer. My question is WHO THE HELL STEALS A GS500?????

PM me your address and I will send you a gas cap ring. You would just need to install your lock in it. It is just a dowel pin that has to be removed.

I may still have an ignition switch with a key. If I do, I can rekey your other locks to match it but cannot take apart an ignition switch.

Common sense in not very common.

Unfortunately the gas tank ring is not sold independently of the gas cap.. Dunno who steals gs's.. though from their rigging, I guess its pretty easy to rig it up once you do.
