Valve seat resurfacing

I had the valve seats from the cylinder head resurfaced and I was wondering if anyone knew whether or not I would have to adjust the valves afterward.

Yes, you will DEFINITELY want to check the clearances before you start it and they will most probably need to be adjusted.

You mean lapped... what exactly you mean by re surfaced... and why did you do it... In 41K+ mine seems to actually have a decent head (atleast 1 part of the bike isn't threatening to give up... Hallelujah)... People seem to run out of shims on the thin side... so make sure you do get the shims you need... I think 215 or so is the thinnest.

Basically I meant the same thing. But, for a different bike ('94 VFR) at 47k. I found a loss of compression, removed the head, found a leak at the valves, and had the valve seat resurfaced by a machinist. Now I get to buy a cylinder head gasket, exhaust gaskets, and eight shims=big $'s. And I hope that the aluminum head won't receive any stripped threads in the process.
