Is this a decent battery?

I think my GS needs a new battery; it's having a really hard time starting under 50 degrees (I had to press the starter six or seven times).

Is that a good quality battery? I don't really know which one to get.

It's probably OK, but they state that it is shipped without acid, so you would have to track down some to add before you could use it. I went with this one: http://www.batterystuff.com/batteries/motorcycle/sYT10L-A2.html and have been happy with it. No need to worry about overflow tubes, or adding fluid to the battery when the water gets boiled out.

I'd be thinking, if it has enough to give you six/seven goes at starting, it cannot be too bad.

Try this... put it on prime, give full choke, Then start it.

ALSO... I found I had more difficulty starting my bike in Winter when I used Shell gas (Shell provides the gas for 7/11 too FYI). Since I switched to BP gas, no problems starting - even if the bikes sits for two three days (due to rain) without being ridden.

Hmm, thanks for the tip. If I put the petcock on prime, how long should I leave it in that position before and after pressing the start button?

I use a battery from advance auto, been using it for 2 years, and it has no problem starting my bike after 2 weeks of snow to go for a ride.  it has the vent on the wrong side, but if you can tighten the screw for the terminals, you can reroute the vent hose
