we have powerpc macs, lots of em. last night i picked up a dual core mac mini. hollllllly smokes this thing -was- faster !

had it all of 20 hours before buying a 500Gb sata drive, 4Gb of 5300 ddr2 ram, and dumping a fresh install of snow leopard....
HOLY SMOKES THATS FASTERERER !

then, dump on parallels + xp home = wow crap xp is fast in a virtual machine !

oh, hello there youtube HD ... i'll be watching some earth shattering FAILS tonight on the lcd tellyvision... but first, gotta try out google chrome OS.

man i'm in techno heaven ! i'll bet i can stitch panoramas like nobodys business now too SWEET !

Hehe, aren't new Macs fun?  How's that N1 with Froyo doing?  I'm dying waiting for the Droid release of Froyo, but on the bright side, the HTC Scorpion is looking more and more like a near future reality.   1.5Ghz in a friggin phone

autopano right now, but i have 'aquired' several different applications. i really really really liked HUGIN on linux, but it's been forever. hugin + autopano-sift + xblend = sweet.jpg !

at some point I'll decide on a good one, right now i'm playing with settings and trying to decide which one doesn't suck. this is a rough (very) pano from a 50 second stitch:

the n1 is great, but it's a poorly designed 3G antenae that's killing it. cup your hands around the bottom (who puts an antennae on the BOTTOM  ? ?? ) and it drops 50% signal. ugh.

otherwise, it really is awesome. froyo is a really nicely polished late beta for now, i'd expect the OTA to be rediculousely badass... but i'll bet we have to wait for after the iDon't 4.0 to be released. you know, steal some thunder ?

hold off on the scorpion... qualcomm announced DUAL CORE snapdragons being released soon.... imagine basicly a core 2 duo 1Ghz or even 1.5Ghz in a phone. sheet !

evo 4g = it's sprint.... so what's the point ?

nexus = 3G antennae crap, no keyboard

they're all still kickass handsets. some of the little talked about features of the N1 are:
all those sensors
FANTASTIC call quality, noise cancelling, trackball

after upgrading the mac mini to 4Gb (actually 3Gb used) and a 16Mb buffer 500Gb harddrive, it's snappy enough for 4-5 more years, or until 8 core mini's are introduced.

Everything I've seen indicates that dual core phones won't hit the market until mid to late next year while the Scorpion should drop right around my 1 year mark with VZW so I can upgrade relatively cheaply.

Apple is being left in the dust as it stands at this moment.  I don't think I'd buy the next gen iPhone even if it does come to VZW.  It's not a dual core, and none of the hardware really looks that impressive.

heh wish i could afford a mac or a fast pc lol , gotta acquire a bicycle and repair the laptop i got from trumpetguy. ( a BIG ty sir  , might put linux on it once i get it sorted
